Altrincham FC First Team / Website
« on: December 09, 2015, 11:03:27 PM »
Is anyone else having problems with the club website? I'm being directed to what appears to be a new website "coming soon"!

Did anyone see the perma-tanned one being interviewed on Granada Reports this evening? I think it was in the street in Liverpool regarding this Mayor thingy. Certainly looked like him and it must have been sunny over there recently!

........and it's not Fleetwood!!!!!!! Report in the People today says Ian Holloway is trailing Shaun for Blackpool. Well you couldn't deny the lad that opportunity could you but at least we should get some cash.

Altrincham FC First Team / Free kicks
« on: August 23, 2009, 09:37:58 PM »
Can anyone tell me why Shaun Densmore doesn't appear to be allowed to take any of the free kicks around the opposition's goal? He had a pretty good record taking them last season and yet hasn't had a look in this season!!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Graham Barrow
« on: June 14, 2009, 10:29:04 PM »
According to a small paragraph in today's People, Roberto Martinez is going to make Graham his reserve team manager!! Refers to Graham as a Wigan legend and he was manager when Martinez played for them.

Altrincham FC First Team / Injury updates
« on: December 23, 2008, 12:40:23 PM »
Look's like someone at the club agreed with my comments on here the other week and I'm pleased to see news about player's fitness on the club web-site........well done!!!!!!!

By the way.......in Robbie's absence what about Joe O'Neill in centre mid-field rather than persisting with Warren?

Altrincham FC First Team / Information from the club
« on: December 06, 2008, 12:30:01 AM »
I appreciate John Laidlar does a wonderful job with the Alty website and provides so much news and information about the Blue Square and local non-league clubs with the exception of one...........Alty!! I don't for a minute criticise John as he can only report what he is given but can someone tell me why week after week we never hear how injured players are doing? I'm pretty sure I've not seen any news about how Chris Denham is doing other than what was on the forum, Colin Little subbed at half-time against Luton and I think most people thought he was injured but again no news and this week, Robbie injured last week but is he going to play today, who knows?
Maybe there is a reason for being so secretive but every other club seems to release information about the likely team or the fitness of the players so if we've got someone at the club responsible for press releases how's about keeping the web-master in the news?

Altrincham FC First Team / Tranmere Rovers
« on: November 04, 2008, 12:06:45 AM »
Are Tranmere being a bit tight or what?! Ryan Shotton given permission to play in the F A Cup for them and yet they won't give us permission to play Luke Waterfall. Come on guys play fair!!!!!!!!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Lee Ellington
« on: March 13, 2008, 10:38:01 PM »
Just seen a post on Droylsden forum saying that Lee Ellington isn't getting much action at Stalybridge these days and would be worth them signing him in the summer. Who agrees he wouldn't be a bad loan signing for us to replace Tom Cahill? From what I remember he had a good season last year and he certainly knew where the goals were!! Maybe the change of club and better players around him would give him a big lift. Might not fancy it though after Bernard left him on the bench all the time he was here a few years back!!

Altrincham FC First Team / The Grahams - start of a new era
« on: January 11, 2008, 11:41:58 PM »
I'm very pleased with the appointment of Graham B and do see it as the start of a new era which hopefully will see us push on to a mid-table position in the next season or so!!
I have been as critical as others about Graham H at times, mostly due to the negativity we sometimes show in our play and I do hope that we do try to be a little more positive, the fitness shouldn't really be such an issue now with the full-time lads in the team. Tuesday night was a bloody good start!!
One plea I'd like to make to the Grahams.........can we please start leaving a couple of forwards up when we're defending a corner?!!! I still can't see the point of players like Senior and Little going back to defend and it also means whatever the clearance, it's going to go to one of the opposition. I'm not sure if Pacey's 4 up is the answer but if we leave 2 up it means the opposition probably have 4 players (including goalie) back plus the corner taker so can only have 6 in or around the box.....surely we've still have enough back to defend that?!!
Looking forward to giving York a better game than the other week!!

Altrincham FC First Team / 10 more years
« on: December 27, 2007, 05:09:21 PM »
If I remember correctly Graham is about the same age as me and will be getting his state pension in about 10 years time and it is my guess that he will stay around as manager until then!! The Board has been assembled of "Graham men" and will never sack him or, as we have seen in the past, accept any resignation he might "offer".
Think about it guys, would you walk away from £25-30k a year managing a part-time football team to become what?....a postie wasn't it last time?
