I'm not sure, but I think the whole custom is pointless and should be dropped altogether.
.

agreed.

I quite like it.

it's only the same as boxers touching gloves before they fight. it's a sign of respect and to say to your opponent, lets have a good clean fight and may the best man win.

And in this case there clearly is no respect so no handshake.  I'd rather there was a bit of honesty than some meaninglesss charade.

So Ryan Shotton will be able to tell his team mates what it's like to play at Crawley and win :

Hope he does well at Morecambe. It was just a matter of time but it would have been nice to have had him around for the next three games.....

I concur.

Any self-respecting Northerner who sees Thatcherism as anything other than disastrous is a sociopath.

Plenty of people in the south think that too - whether they moved here like me or were born here like my missus and friends.

Great stuff. Thanks.

Some top class goals.
I think a special mention for Lawrie for his part in the fifth. He was back on defending our 6 yard box at the start of the clip and then gets up to make the overlap and put it on a plate for Damian. Shows real commitment. It would have been understandable if he'd decided to just job back to half way and defend the two goal lead.

It was Richman who set up Reeves' fourth goal.

I stand corrected. I should have paid more attention at the start of the video!  Great effort by Richman then!

Shhhhh.
He can get his feet on the ground and be a bit more consistent after Hyde and Halifax have gone away. For now, a few misses in a game we win anyway is more likely to keep him at Alty!

You could argue that it would be arrogant of him not to talk to them.

Are you a spin doctor in disguise?  ;D

Can't blame him for talking to the clubs who have shown interest. You could argue that it would be arrogant of him not to talk to them.

Really pleased to hear that it was a good performance as well as another good away victory.

Another couple of decent performances against Harrogate (who will be on a high after winning away themselves) and Blyth (long trip on a Tuesday evening) would set us up nicely for two key games against Gainsborough and Stalybridge.

Well done to the manager and team. Come on Alty!

One other thing AFC Halifax are a different club from what was Halifax Town. I don't think they're as big as they think they are.

It's a difference financial entity but they're playing at the same ground with what must be largely the same fans and they've kept the nickname for whatever that means. I think we'd argue that it's the fans who are the heart and soul of the club as players, managers and board members come and go.

We're all proud that the board have made sure that Alty are run on a sound financial basis but if that weren't case and it all went pop and a new club was resurrected from the ashes then I'm sure we'd all support that club. So let's not get too 'holier than thou' with the Halifax fans however much we might dislike the way the previous administration behaved.

And in terms of fanbase Halifax are the biggest club in this league by some way - almost twice our average gate - but in the BSP they'd be no better than mid-table on that basis.

In terms of Jack Redshaw, if his aim is to get back into the league then I'd have thought he'd be more likley to get that move if he's playing without a contract and could move without any fee being paid.

Indeed. But before people start mud slinging they should look at where they're slinging the mud from. To start the whole "we belong at this level, living off other peoples demises business" debate looks stupid as AFC Halifax's defunct former club owed £1.2 million only a few years ago...

The clubs website still redirects to the page the FL ones use, odd. They've never been in the FL

I agree. I can't see why some people equate our survival in the BSP with financial mismanagement at other clubs. We may have inadvertently benefited from it but no-one at our club influenced those clubs to do what they did and I can't see why anyone would expect us to be grateful or contrite simply because other clubs messed up.

If they want to associate themselves with the successes of the past then they ought to accept the failures too and give a thought to the people whose livelihoods have been put at stake in the name of their club (even if the name has changed and those directly responsible have done a runner).

I think walmsley sounds an excellent signing and a step toward the forum myth that is the 2 year grand plan!  ;D

Does sound like he had a great game and lived up to the praise he got from folks at Kendal but isn't he part of their 2-year plan rather than ours?

Great result and glad to hear that they played well for it.

Worrying to hear that Broomes got injured in first game. Glad that Clee played well at full-back but it does show how thin the squad is in terms of defenders.

It'll be hard to start putting together the solid performances we need in defence if the back four is constantly changing.Hopefully Broomes will be fit for Saturday.

The term "roller-coaster season" is being re-defined.
I've no idea what to expect on Saturday.
