Title: Looks like Weymouth away on a Tuesday night then... lovely
Post by: Leon on September 28, 2007, 12:31:09 PM
From Confguide:

York City have been informed by The Football Conference that the end of the season has been brought forward in order to accomodate the end of season play-off dates. City will now play their final game of the season on Saturday 26th April when they travel to Salisbury. The home fixture against Farsley has been moved by The Conference to Tuesday 22nd April.

The changes will apply to all clubs in Blue Square Premier, Blue Square North & South divisions and it is hoped to announce the dates for the play-offs and end of season finals shortly. The Board of Directors of The Conference have apologised for any inconvenience this may cause clubs and supporters and hope that the early notice will minimise any disruption.

This is beyond a joke. A lot of people have travel arrangements and hotels booked for that game and now they decide to just move the end of the season! What an absolute disgrace!

What a joke! Myself and several others i know have a hotel booked and have paid a deposit. Could they not have planned the play offs while sorting out the fixtures? Bang goes a quality bank holiday weekend away!

This is obviously very disappointing news, however at least we have six months to try to rearrange the game for a Saturday if both clubs are not playing e.g.F.A. Cup/Trophy dates.

Looking at the original fixtures, York were due to play Salisbury on the last Saturday and Farsley the penultimate Saturday but have now moved both games.

So maybe we'll be at Weymouth on the last day of the season (26th) and be at home to Histon the midweek before?

It's pretty risible that the Conference has only just realised they need to schedule some play-off dates...

Perhaps that bloke who cycled up from Cambridge for the match a couple of weeks ago can try again for Alty v Histon on a Tuesday night?

I think we should ALL still invade weymouth en masse with it being a saturday and last game of the season, if we can pull numbers anywhere close to what travelled down for that famous FA trophy tie it would be fantastic,I always remember weymouths assistant manager saying in the bar aftewards that we had more fans in attendance that day than dorchester (8 miles away) had taken to the wessex stadium on boxing day.Bring it on!
