Scunny could yet have a local derby next season against Gainsborough.
As for Curzon, if they win their next two, away to Blyth and Darlington, they should have quite a good chance of the play-offs. Quite a big if though...
(Also South Shields up - at last!).

SC**thorpe can definitely "look forward" to a Lincolnshire derby against Boston United. Although whether simply being in the same county constitutes a derby when the towns are 62 miles apart is a moot point.
Apart from smashing them 9-0 in the FA Cup in 1953, they have a poor record in League games against Boston. In the 3 seasons that they were both in League 2 (2002-5) their record was 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats.
-
Yes, Boston look safe now, unlike Kettering. I still think they need to move away from Burton if they're to get back to where they should be. And then there's Worcester City, formerly one of the biggest APL clubs...
-
Scunny may play in sunny Scabby.
-
Looking likely we'll lose Torquay or Yeovil or Aldershot, removing 2 of biggest journeys.
Would like Scarborough , Curzon up, as I think Kings Lynn will win the league.

Looks as if we could have a massive say in the relegation fight, given our fixtures - on form it seems like Torquay might do it, but Aldershot probably have slightly easier fixtures. York and Maidenhead could yet be pulled in too.
Probably spoke too soon about Fylde a couple of weeks ago as it looks like they're bottling it again...

The current bottom 4 are going down I reckon.

Bottom two gone. Yeovil have 3 of their last 4 games away, at Solihull, Wrexham, and Boreham Wood, so I don't see them staying up
Because of their inferior goal difference, Torquay need to pull a 3 point advantage over Aldershot. We have to play both of them . Torquay's problem is the same as Yeovil - 3 away games : us, Wrexham, and Chesterfield ! If they don't beat York at home on Saturday I fear for them.
Aldershot have SC**thorpe calling on Saturday - I reckon if they win that they're safe.
-
Slightly worried about the possibility of relegating Aldershot on the last day, they're not going to like it one little bit!
-
No but I would love it
-
I would love it too to be fair, though I would tentatively suggest that the vicinity of the Recreation Ground might not be a good place to ostentatiously love it too much should we happen to relegate Town*.
*After the hard work that so many put into helping this club pay off historic debt, I insist on referring to the likes of Aldershot, Halifax and Macc, who got to start a "new" club with a clean slate and the same old stadium, as "(Aldershot) Town", "FC (Halifax Town)", or "the newly formed Macclesfield FC", rather than a name which does not acknowledge that any such thing happened.
-
Out of interest, what year was it that we became 'debt free' ?
-
i drove past the moss rose on saturday and they've got a big sign outside saying something along the lines of "since 1874.". i think that's called having it both ways isn't it?
-
I think Robbie Savage and M*cc were absolutely made for each other.
Make of that what you will, as they say.

Fair play to the match programme & website & any articles penned by a certain figure at the club & occasional habitue of this forum who always rightly refers to the ‘now defunct Macclesfield Town’. Never forget they ripped off local business & cheated the tax man and have no history whatsoever.

Much better than the nonsense shoe horned in about Wolves every other week.

I was there (Wolves). It was my (first) reality check watching and supporting Alty.
PS. There have been quite a few others over the years.

From the match day programme (Saturday 22nd January 1966)
"WELCOME TO A FINE TEAM
As we welcome Cheshire League side Altrincham to Molineux today we do so with the sincerity of club to club rather than from a high status to a lower one. Let us assure the many thousands who will have made the trip from Cheshire that there is no condescension in our greeting to a side who, without a shadow of a doubt, have already proved themselves worthy of the place they have won in the third round of the FA Cup.
But whatever the outcome, all of us in Wolvehampton will wish them well in their outstanding effort to win the Cheshire League title for the first time in their history. Unbeaten so far they certainly seem to be on the way towards it".

I can't remember the exact year off hand but I'm sure it was after we got promoted in 2005 (despite Yemi Odubade's best efforts), when our total staff wages were about 2.5k, up from 1.8k in the NPL, at a time when the likes of Worksop Town were paying some 5k a week.
I suspect it was towards the end of the 6 year spell in the Conference (during which we recorded a post Maunders best of doing better than eleven Conference teams who started the season), or not long after. I'm sure it will be in the Altyfiles archives somewhere.
