Saturday team
« on: February 06, 2014, 12:32:00 PM »

Its now do or die as regards the playoffs are concerned. If we don't win Saturday forget promotion.

Please ditch this turgid 4-4-2. An attacking 3-4-1-2 for me.

Hoping Richman recovers in time as he was a massive miss on Tuesday.

Alty 3-0 BPA. Havern, Lawrie and Walshaw.

I think 4-4-2 is fine in this league, you've just got to have the personnel, we were set to piss this league, williams got unfortunately injured and boshell left to take up his current role. And for whatever reason they weren't properly replaced, back to basics for me Saturday unless someone else arrives between now and then or any of these are injured

I'm not sure that being demoralised is the best option.

Pete, you have saved me a post. Correct we need to go back to basics,  defence has clearly been more solid with havern and leather at centre back. I appreciate Rodgers isn't a talented footballer but he allows moult to get forward which is his best position and finally richman is better out wide and can put in a decent delivery.  Walshaw and reeves is a must!

Yes 4-4-2  is basic. So basic our manager bleeds it. Hence the poor performances and poor position we're in.

You have to use what you've got. Densmore a rb who is good at driving forward. Clee , Griffin and Doughty can both defend and attack. For these two reasons alone play with two wing backs

I understand what you mean, but performances against leamington and Gainsborough showed we aren't comfortable playing 3 at the back.

The two games you mention were two we were shoehorning Higgingbottom into if I remember.

Another problem with 4-4-2 is we havent got an out and out right winger. Mwalise appears to be too lioght weight and Richman and Lawrie arn't but 'do a job'

We've had the odd good spell with a 3-4-3 formation and GH has shown in the past you can mould a team to change formation. I do not know if it is a failure with the players or the management that there might be a difficulty to adapt. It is my feeling that Dens and Buzz/Griffin may be more suited to wing back roles.

It's  fair point however we only have 2 capable centre halfs at the club with Williams being injured

I'd go with

                                 Coburn
Densmore       Havern         Leather       Doughty

Lawrie             Richman         Moult           Clee

                       Reeves          Walshaw

I know Lawrie would be better upfront or as attacking mid but he's been playing well recently and would give it a go. Also Griffin's been off form so I'd give buzz a go.

I'll put the cat amongst the pigeons and go with this;

                                                  Coburn

         Densmore.               Havern.                Leather               Griffin

                                 Richman.                    Rodgers

                         Lawrie                  Moult                  Clee

                                                  Walshaw

4 2 3 1 is all the rage in the Premier league so we may as well give it a go!

To allow the fullbacks to get forward you need a quality midfielder heathcote's team had a on form Crowell a hardworking danalyk and Kearney who was a class act
