TAMWORTH 2010-11
« on: July 11, 2010, 01:59:20 AM »

If asked at the start of LAST season, I'd have had no hesitation in naming Tamworth as one of my prime bets for relegation. However, by the end of September they had lost just once (by the only goal at Barrow), and had taken 22 points from 13 games. They looked a tidy side at Moss Lane where they held us to a 1-1 draw.

But then they lost 5 games in a row in October, and towards the end of the season they slid dangerously close to the drop zone.

I'm sorry to say that at the start of THIS season I again think they're prime candidates for the drop - indeed they're my bet to occupy last place.

0 - 0 at Moss Lane wasn't it? We started laying into their fan in the bright yellow polo shirt  ;D

I expect them to struggle given they've lost players from last season which they finished abysmally. They can be very pleased with themsleves if they finish 20th and just avoid the drop.

Mind you, at least they seem to be cutting their cloth accordingly. Potential AGM Cup winners?

I could excuse myself this error if I hadn't actually checked all Tamworth's results for last season before posting the poll ! It was, of course, a goal free zone that evening, but they still looked half decent and I'd have fancied them for a top half finish at the time.

They've peaked and are on a downward turn.

If memory serves me, the chant was "you've come dressed as a lemon"...

23rd for Tamworth.

I too think they are relegation candidates which would be a pity if only down to the fact that there ground is only an hour away from Shrewsbury. I hope they dont finish bottom, I have that position reserved for FGR.
