Next Five League Games Part Two
« on: December 10, 2014, 10:43:33 AM »

Following my disastrous prediction of no points in my last thread I thought we could give it another go...

DOVER ATHLETIC
Chester
NUNEATON TOWN
CHESTER
Eastleigh

On paper this looks so much easier than our last five league fixtures, but we all know how we perform against the less good teams.

If we can get eight or nine points from these fixtures I think we will have gone a long way towards staying up.

Chester are very good at home so dropping points there wouldn't be a disgrace, but I think we can certainly get something from them at Moss Lane. Dover's away record is patchy so a win should be possible. Nuneaton only have one point away from home all season so this will probably be the game we drop a massive bollock in. Eastleigh haven't lost at home all season, so another tough one.

I reckon six or seven points would be about par, anything more and we're doing very well.

We'll do well at Eastleigh. All our players will be busting a gut to attract the attention of their manager and earn themselves the dream chance of playing for them.

I'm hopeful that by the time that Chester visit the J Davidson Stadium on New Year's Day, they will be distracted by the prospect of playing Middlesbrough in the FA Cup Third Round just a few days later.

I'm hoping that Dover's players will be thinking about Crystal Palace, and trying to avoid injury or suspension.

I believe the conference board are considering a request from Wrexham/Southport to postpone their NYD game - if they do it for them then they will have to allow it all conf clubs through to the 3rd round

So Chester could well be off (I fancy them in their replay as well)

to be fair I think the Dover match is the hardest of the lot. They been on fine form of late, now comfortable mid table. And their cup run only backs that up

Predicting Alty results is pretty futile...but here goes...
7 points from the 5 games with even us being able to beat Nuneaton. Hoping for a share of the points with Chester and a draw (or win) from inform, but preoccupied Dover.
And yes, 7 points will probably leave us pretty comfortable in terms of staying up - famous last words!

Didn't we once set our longest unbeaten run for years in the conference in a season when we eventually got relegated?

That's Alty for you!  :D ::)
