Who do we think / hope will still be here when we're full time next season?
Will we still have one or two part timers here too?
I think JL could be correct in thinking that most of the players we have out on loan will be released but I'm not sure how many of the squad will want full time. I expect those under, say, 27 or 28 would love to give it a go but we've got a handful over 30 who'd be less keen.
Thoughts?
-
Might keep some young loaned out players.
Defo going, Densmore, Hannigan, Hampson, Moult, Hancock
Think Thompson, Marriot Mullarkey will make the switch to full time.
The rest are full time
-
You're saying that Kosylo, Colclough, Mooney, Osbourne, Hulme, Leitch-Smith, Pringle etc are already ft? I didn't know that.
-
Colclough could be tempted away. Love to see him stay. That's depends on our budget and the need to build a cohesive squad.
Leitch-Smith hasn't cut it for me.
-
I think Colclough is still under contract for another year but I know that doesn't mean he's staying or would want to stay if a lucrative bid comes in.
Going to be a very interesting summer!
-
I'd keep 15 of the squad:
Thompson (Drench), Mullarky, Morgan, Cooper, Jones, Perritt, Ferguson,
Mooney, Kosylo, Colclough, Pringle, Marriott, Osborne, Hulme
Happy to stay, expect may go: White, Densmore, Gould, Moult, Hancock.
Lose: Hampson, Hannigan, Densmore, Sutton, Digie, Morgan, Jackson.
Unsure: Both Halls, Miller, Dinanga

I'd love them to stay, but Perritt is a loan and Ferguson a short term deal - I think is to go back to Ireland.
Is your Hall Will or Kole - I's like to see the latter stay.
Either way we will lose some players who have given Alty so much

I'd imagine with the length of loan, most loanees post Feb, will be up for grabs. I'd be very disappointed if Ferguson goes back to Ireland (unsure on the standard, but he would slot in a L2 side with ease,).
We will lose some players by their choice, and the odd one who it's our choice, but thats football, sadly. Every player in our sqaud is capable of joining a top North or even a newly promoted PT north side.
Both Halls; certainly if it's not an expensive addition to have each involves
-
I don’t really want to see Dinanga back at ML anytime soon. Not sure about Hall. The likes of Hannigan, Hanks probably don’t want full time .. I expect a few of the senior players won’t get a new contract. It will be a shame to no longer see the likes of Dens and Jake no longer at Alty but I think Parky will have to be ruthless now we are FT and Parky and Sorvs will be making difficult decisions on who stays and who goes.
Going full time will put a different spin on how the club is run and progresses in the future. It will have to now employ people behind the scenes to do a full time job and be run as a formal business.
Hopefully this step forward means further investment in the club will be forthcoming.
Exciting times ahead
-
Ferguson did say in one of his interviews that he wanted to break into English football. He does look like exactly the sort of player, not being local, who would be attracted by full-time football here, although there must be a chance that a bigger club could come in for him following his performances, with the same also applying to Ryan Colclough.
I would like Perritt to stay, although I doubt whether he would be released by Accrington. Otherwise the names on Hashtag's list of players to stay look the likely ones, although he has Morgan both staying and leaving! Perhaps Leitch-Smith was missed from the ones to leave?
-
Would there not be room for some of the best part-time players to stay on ie. the ones who have good careers outside football who don't want to break in to that.
-

Think this is fairly accurate, albeit there may be the odd surprise departure. The players in the squad in the autumn of their careers such as Moult, Densmore, Sutton I can’t see this being right for them and the slightly younger ones who we know have good jobs outside of football-Hancock & Hannigan spring to mind-again part time probably suits their lifestyle better. I’m sure there’s quite a few Conference North/NPL sides who read our announcement with interest.
The spine of the team now Thompson-Mullarkey-Marriot/Osborne-Hulme I would expect all to be here next season. Hopefully both Colclough & Mooney but you can see us losing one of those two. I wonder who Stockport won’t be taking with them to League 2 as well-must be some opportunities there perhaps. All in all I’d expect a younger more stable squad with fewer ins and outs & loans next season. The fact that we’ve known since early March that we weren’t going down means we’ve had plenty of time to track players & move quickly in the summer I hope.

Surely then we wouldn't be full time? And I'm not sure how it would work for strategy, team building, morale, unity etc. with some of the players only being at some of the training either.

This was one of the first things that came to my mind when pondering our squad for next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Tom Walker and Millenic Alli here next season, but really, who knows what our approach will be, and who we are in talks with.
I think it's highly likely that we'll take a couple of lads from Fleetwood/Crewe/Stoke on 6-month or even season-long loans, too. Having the full-time environment opens us up to that sort of partnership.
First step is to get the contracts agreed with those we want to go full-time. The sooner that is done, the sooner we know what gaps we need to fill.
Agree with the names touted to depart, either due to us going full-time or because we are simply moving on. We are likely to see double figures for departing players, so this really is shaping up to be a crucial but exciting summer.
Our most successful player profile has been the young, hungry and talented type so I hope we have learned lessons from the underwhelming 'ex-pros' of this season. That said, with the likes of Moult, Dens, Hannigan, Hancock almost certain to depart, we are going to have a big seniority vacuum. How we fill that is going to be very important.
-
Don't think kole Hall is a candidate for a starting number nine. Whether Hulme stays or goes, we need reinforcements there.
Good strikers are obviously as rare as hen's teeth but being able to offer a full time contract might be very helpful.
-
Retain:
Thompson
Mullarkey
Ferguson
Marriott
Osborne
Mooney
Kosylo
Colclough - although I suspect we'll entertain the right offers to subsidise our transition
Sign (if we can):
Jones - realistic
Cooper - more realistic now Rotherham have gone up
Perritt - well regarded, would have to push hard or get another loan
Hulme - amazed if not already a done deal
Kirby - assume he'll be a free agent
Would have retained but now expecting to depart:
Gould?
Drench?
White - shame, as he'd played himself right back into the picture
Hampson - good full time job and poor injury record
Hannigan - left Fylde for same reasons
Moult - not getting younger, assume he has a good job too
Hancock - good job outside football
Undecided:
Pringle (depends who else we can get in)
Would have expected to release anyway:
Densmore
Sutton
Digie
Morgan
Jackson
Dinanga
Leitch-Smith
If we lose Colclough then I'd love Elliott Newby back - although he seems to be playing well for Stockport at the moment. His twin brother Alex is also likely to be released by Rochdale and can play at Number 10 or up front, as well as on the wing. I'd also like us try to solve the long term centre forward conundrum whilst it's on our own terms.

This!
Well described.
I would have said exactly the same if I had the energy to write all that!! 😂😂😂😂
My only quibble would be the hope we could keep Andy White in some way.

I'd keep Andy White, but not Cooper. Otherwise I'd pretty much agree with the above. I'd probably also wave goodbye to Pringle, who's not quite good enough and isn't a frequent starter.
I'm not sure that Stoke would release Jones, but we might have more luck with Perritt. We MUST make Ferguson a decent offer - he's definitely one for the future, and could eventually move to a bigger club for a decent wedge.
-
Morgan will stay. PP said he bought him in early because he became available but the plan was to get him in over the summer. I think he’s seen as one for the future rather than first choice for the start of the season

My money is on Perritt (and Hulme) being done deals

Are you sure about Cooper - I thought consensus was that he's played well? Unfortunately for him I think we've got three great young centre backs at the club currently.
I think you've got Jones and Perritt the wrong way round too, I think Perritt would be the tougher one of the two.
With regard to Perritt I think it's generally considered that his future is at holding midfield rather than full back(?), which is an interesting thought too.
-
Hope you're correct. Perritt is a great full back.
Hulme is proving himself at National level but we still need another striker.
-
Also, can't wait to see more details on the training facilities.

I did wonder if that was anything to do with why we are having a friendly against Wythenshawe Town

I thought it was going to be Egerton where the reserves play in Knutsford?

This is about right. I'm surprised/disappointed at comments suggesting Hannigan and Hampson are not good enough, as I think both are still capable and intelligent players capabel of doing a job for us; I have no idea what Tom does outside football (I know that Conner is a teacher) and so I'd understand if secure employment prospects meant that they wanted to remain p/t.
-
See M*cc are going full time too in the NPL Div1 North! 🤯
(their average gate this season was 3000+ though)
Which is over a thousand more than what they got in the EFL. 🙄
-
Honestly don't mind their club or team too much ..... but those moron fans .... , sat next to Sean Williams dad in their pop side stand a few years back - what a load of a_ _holes . For that reason more than anything i don't want them back at our level .
-
With regard to Hampson / Hannigan - or any others on that particular list, for that matter - Moult, Hancock etc...
I don't think you'll find many suggesting that they aren't good enough - it's just unlikely that they can now commit to us, that's all.
Brutal for us to lose so many incredible servants in one go - but hopefully we'll only ever do this once.
-
I wouldnt call Wythenshawe Towns ground "a high level training facility"
-
I did hear a rumour that Egerton is going to be the training facility for the full time squad
-
Joe Robbins has been released by Crewe after their relegation. Wonder if we might take a look after he had that loan spell here.

Yes. They went to Hopwood Hall between Middleton and Rochdale for a while.

I think both the original Macclesfield and Barrow (who always seem to be moving training venues, but seldom anywhere near Furness) have used Egerton in the past, with Macc leaving Egerton out of pocket if I recall correctly.
Various teams of ours have used Egerton for a few years now, so I am sure relations are good, and I am expecting us to be training there.
-
I agree that we are likely to lose some long standing favourites, mainly I suspect because it won't make sense for them to give up jobs and go full time.
I would love to secure Ferguson if possible and, given what I've seen so far, would happily sign Kole Hall. His hold up play, ability to link / bring others into play and also work ethic make him a good acquisition imo
Obviously Perritt would be worth securing even on a long loan
Will be interested to see how it all pans out though
-
How about ones we would want:-
I'd have scott leather back, either of the newbys, Jakes brother and (reaching here) Josh Ginnelly
-
Just been reading that six of the Academy squad have been signed "on first team forms".
Where will they slot into the system now? Do I assume they will play in the reserves and will continue to be developed or might they go out on loan next year to see how they progress?
I'm not sure I understand what's going on here.
Thoughts anyone?
-
The Crewe released list is always an interesting read - and all the more so now we can offer full-time deals.
I'd say the 2 highlights are Will Jaaskelainen, who looked destined for good things but his form has completely deteriorated this season - and also Luke Murphy, who I think most of their fans would have liked to have retained for at least another year.
-
Murphy is 32 so I'd be surprised if Parky looks at him. We look like we're going for young players with sell on potential.
Jaaskelleinen (sp?) fits the bill perfectly being early 20s but as Parky loves Thommo it would only be likely if Tony doesn't want to go full time as the Crewe lad would certainly want to be assured of being first choice starter imo.

As much as we got our fingers burned in the main with recruiting experienced players this season, I'm sure it won't put Parky off if the right people become available - Murphy is younger than Jake Moult and Ben Pringle - and has plenty of minutes under his belt playing League One football this season.
Jaaskelainen has the added Nantwich connection, which I'm sure the management will like! - he's still only young and clearly his confidence is shot playing between the sticks for a poorly performing side. I'm sure he won't be short on interest, and he'll want to be first choice as you say.
-
Alex Newby confirmed as released by Rochdale.
One other interesting name on the list is ex-Salford and Fylde goalkeeper Jay Lynch - who at 29 is a pretty decent age for a goalkeeper.

Well, I guess we have an opening for a first-choice goalkeeper now!
I think Will Jaaskelainen would be a great shout and a long-term asset - or Jay Lynch who has lots of experience in the region around this level.

Looks like a good shout.
I'm sure Parky has some irons in the fire as he must have known the situation as soon as full time was definite.
Also, wonder what the situation is with Mullarkey, Kosylo, Colclough and Hulme?
For various reasons it's concerning.
It would be nice to know exactly who has committed for next year. We'd then have an idea where the gaps are.
I understand it's not going to happen yet and we'll be told as soon it's possible. Just shows the level of excitement/uncertainty/concern I'm experiencing (along with lots of other people on here!)
-
This could be where Parkie's full time status could be of benefit with the scouting and contacts he will have made.
-
I'd keep 15 of the squad:
Thompson (Drench), Mullarky, Morgan, Cooper, Jones, Perritt, Ferguson,
Mooney, Kosylo, Colclough, Pringle, Marriott, Osborne, Hulme
Happy to stay, expect may go: White, Densmore, Gould, Moult, Hancock.
Lose: Hampson, Hannigan, Densmore, Sutton, Digie, Morgan, Jackson.
Unsure: Hall, Miller, Dinanga
Think this is fairly accurate, albeit there may be the odd surprise departure. The players in the squad in the autumn of their careers such as Moult, Densmore, Sutton I can’t see this being right for them and the slightly younger ones who we know have good jobs outside of football-Hancock & Hannigan spring to mind-again part time probably suits their lifestyle better.
Interesting if people take it for granted that Hulme will leave Fylde for us. Does anyone know anything for certain about this - or may it depend on whether Fylde win the play-offs?

Given he shares everything about the club on his socials along with the fact he's buzzing for it all, saying goodbye to the leavers etc - I'd be amazed if he wasn't coming at this stage.
-
I see Kidderminster have been defeated in the NLN playoffs...
...Ashley Hemmings, anyone?
At 31 he's not getting any younger - but I suppose Jordan's that kind of age too - and he seems to be as strong as ever.
Doing a bit of digging it seems he's already signed on for next season - although at his age he might fancy a crack at National League football, might be worth an enquiry.
-
Ashley Hemmings plays in the same position as ryan colclough so I would say no although he can play number 10 .
-

I can't see any way that Ryan Colclough is an Alty player next season. I also don't think a 31 year old from the NLN is where we should be looking for our players.

Jordan Hulme?
Exactly.
That's the first position we should be looking to strengthen. I'm hoping we can tempt a good young big target man who can bully defences like he is noted for. Just five or six years younger. Someone to challenge him for that number nine shirt (if he stays).
-
The point I'm making is that Jordan is a 31 year old from the NLN - and Hemmings is a few months younger and clearly National League standard.
I wouldn't be averse to signing him at all if he were available - need a squad of 18 or so strong players, and a blend of youth and experience.
-
Yes. I was going a bit further to say that not only would hemmings be a questionable signing on a couple of levels but so would Hulme and we need to be aiming to sign someone younger and better IF possible.
They certainly could both be good signings for the squad but we really need to have better starters.
-
Last season a competent Man U youth player (Fish) played for Stockport; maybe this is an area to look at for loans.
-
Cameron Mason - Southport keeper is the best in Conference North. Joined Chesterfield last year so maybe tempted by full time status.

Sticking to NLN, I think Danny Elliott at Boston is worth a look. Played over this way for Chester where I understand he was well regarded for his work rate but just wasn't prolific - well he's found his shooting boots this season and at 26 he's a good age. Netted twice at Fylde this afternoon.
-
Think his availability will depend on whether Boston come up? I'm not sure whether they are full time already.
-
The thought occurs that if anyone wants to get out of that circus at Fylde & now we are full time there could be some options there. They’ve got a lot of highly rated players.

I suspect a lot of them are still beyond our financial reach - Haughton at number 10 would be awesome.
-
Connor Kirby was in the directors box again today
-
Haughton and Kirby are the sort of the players we need to be looking at.
-
Whether we've gone full-time or not, Haughton will still be well out of our financial reach. He's probably the best player in the NLN - and the highest paid too.
I expect Kirby to be here next season.

Has he played a competitive match since suffering that horrendous injury at Wealdstone?

If we still want him then Kirby should be ours I’d say.

Would be a good signing indeed if was fit again. Perhaps a few run outs in the PSFs would demonstrate that. Didn't someone say he was in the directors box on Sunday? Perhaps a deal's in the offing.

Are we expecting to see any of the following next season ?Gould, Sutton , Digie, either of the Halls. Morgan , Jackson , Miller, Leitch Smith. Dinanga signed on a two year deal so unless he goes at a knock down price or on loan will presumably still be part of the squad.
-
I'm not.

Possibly Kole Hall and Will Hall would go out on loan again, as hopefully would Dinanga. Curtis Miller is a faint possibility too. Our loaned out defender Sean Higgins was Trafford's Player of the Season, and could still have a role to play
-
I'm usually not keen on them but in our circumstances I think we would benefit from putting out a transparent retained/released/transfer listed article.

Yes, it would be nice to see where we stand with everyone.
Not sure it will happen for a while yet, if at all.
-
I think Morgan & Dinanga will be here next year
-
I’ve always thought Dinanga had a footballer hiding somewhere inside him. Not sure why we haven’t seen it emerge yet.

That is excellent news.. please please let’s get Kyle Ferguson to sign for us

Great news.
There was talk on another thread about the future signings which may come at the end of the month when contracts are up in the league.
What must happen sooner is the signing up of crucial members of the squad to full time contracts.
This is the first of them and I look forward with eager anticipation to seeing news of more very soon!
PS. I think it's the second one actually. Hasn't Toby signed up already?
-
Great start. Keep them coming

Agree , hope the "one or two" new faces is just journalistic style. 5 or 6 at least
-
If it's not journalistic style, it's going to mean there's quite a few staying we thought were going.
Surely not.

When PP presented Toby with his POTY award, he was half-jokingly, half-not-jokingly urging him to sign up for next season. So that tells me that Toby has not yet signed a new deal. The claim that he had done so came I think from a newspaper in Portsmouth.

I think the main benefit of going full time that I’m expecting to see/hoping for isn’t necessarily better recruitment but it giving us a better chance of retaining the good players we get (recruitment can always be a bit hit and miss by it’s very nature).
I don’t know much about the lads mentioned from other teams. I do know we’d be in a very strong position if we still had, James Jones, Marcus Smith, Josh Lundstram, Joel Senior and (for a period he was gone) Jordan Hulme hadn’t left us, for clubs which quite frankly aren’t really any bigger than us but could offer a combination of full time football/more money/football league status.
It might not have stopped it but if we can knock one of those three factors out then it would at least help.

Looks like he’s already jetted off to South America according to his social media so hopefully he signed before he left.

Another one for the goalkeeper category is Luke Simpson, Kidderminster's first choice goalkeeper who has decided not to stay on with them due to the travel.
Lives in Heywood I believe.

I note that Jake Cooper has been released by Rotherham United:

Meanwhile, Elliot Osborne fits the bill for today's contract announcement:

They are absolutely required!
Let's hope we sign them both up.
I find it very frustrating the way we're drip fed signings news but I suppose it serves some purpose.

-
Jake Cooper wouldn't be a bad signing, although a Mullarkey/Ferguson axis would be ideal.
-
Agree with the above, a very sound 3rd choice cb
-
I think Jake Cooper has really good potential - he had two very successful loan spells in the NLN prior to joining us, and it's worth remembering that Kyle Ferguson really had to wait for his chance given that things had shored up at the back so much under Mullarkey-Cooper.
I'd be very happy to see him here next season.

Liam Hogan would do a job
-
Liam Hogan would do a job
Isn’t he another centre back?
-
I thought Tom Walker looked half decent when he was here on loan.
-
Is he an upgrade on what we've got though?
-
Liam Hogan would do a job
Isn’t he another centre back?
Yes
-
Liam Hogan imo is a perfect example of experience that could improve us - I suppose a lot depends on what our current centre backs decide to do, as I'd prefer to prioritise the three we've had first and foremost.
Sticking to centre halves, Jamie Stott I wouldn't mind seeing here either - and I think he's left-sided too.
Tom Walker is a bit of a funny one - came with lots of pedigree, we didn't see him much when he was here but Parky would have had a good chance to take a look at him - he's clearly a very gifted technical footballer much like James Poole - or if I'm being a bit more harsh, Greg Wilkinson... not sure he's what we need but what do I know...
-
Definitely prefer to keep Mullarky, Ferguson and Cooper.
-
If there was a betting market you'd expect Tom Walker to be odds on to end up here. Local, free, technical attacker who can play across the three. And we have a vacancy at #10.
-

What about Kosylo. Have we heard if he's staying? I'd have put him at 10 if he was.
Our biggest vacancy, imvho, is at 9. (have I mentioned this before? 😊)
-
Hogan would be higher on my list than Cooper. Adds championship winning experience, fills some of the gap left by Jake.
Walker would be a great addition and allow rotation.
-
I think keeper will be the most difficult position to cover (if we can keep Eddie Jones) as TT has very big boots to fill.
-

Agree with Hogan but in my opinion we need to look better quality than Walker and Cooper to give it a proper go.
-
Hogan wasn’t ever present in Stockport team. Their fans didn’t rate him. Cooper looked solid as did Ferguson. Sign those two with Mullarkey and we certainly don’t need Hogan
-
I’d like us to go with Mullarkey, Ferguson and Cooper if we can keep all 3. Not sure Hogan would be right option.
-
As I have said on the thread about the Magnificent 7, we are not just replacing quality footballers, but a lot of character.
I am sure Parkie will live up to his reputation for looking at these football intelligent players with character, strength and humour.
Can anyone here see players of such character that might be available?
-
It would probably depend on
a) firstly is Liam Hogan still fit and good enough? If he’s released because they’re in the FL now and have huge resources anyway then that’s ok? If it’s because his legs are starting to go or have gone then that’s a red flag.
b) assuming he’s ok then look at who we are replacing. Hannigan has gone so if it’s his experience and steadiness we want to replace them Hogan would fit the bill. Think Mullarkey, Cooper, Ferguson, Hogan would be an improvement on the four centre halves we started this season with certainly?
I’m easy either way but the point is, Parky and Sorvs will have an idea of the make up and balance of their squad they want players to fit to.
-

You need 4 centre halves. That’s an absolute necessity.
-

If perrit can play centre half I think the three from the end of this season plus perrit would do. I’d rather spend the limited budget on the first XI than get a 4th CB who might play 3 or 4 times a season. Long term injury to one of the three means dipping into the loan market but that’s ok
-
I'd be very surprised (and delighted) if Perritt signed. I think he's destined for much higher things.
I agree about the four centre backs but suspect Parky will go for three with perhaps Hall as back up on loan to stay fit.
By the way, I'm not saying I agree with that.
-
Perritt I believe is under contract at Accrington for next season so the best we can hope for with him is another loan.
-
Jordan released by Fylde.
He seems pretty bemused by it all, seems they just posted the list rather than bother to actually tell him in person. Classy as ever.

I think we all know what the next announcement 📢 here is going to be! 😉

All sorts of shenanigans at Fylde at the moment. Apart from the obvious, why would anyone want to be associated with them.

££££££! 😉
-
Some interested players released from clubs not too far away. Notice Mark Beck and Connor Kirby have been released from Harrogate and Alex Newby from Rochdale. Be interesting to see if we are in the mix to be able to attract players of this caliber to the club.
-
Kirby was at the Yeovil game I believe.
-
Fylde fans were surprised to see Ben Tollitt released.
He's another one that could provide depth in the wide areas.
-

This is why, in my opinion, we shouldn't be averse to bringing in the right experience as long as we're diligent on checking their fitness etc. For example, the lad that was club captain at Crewe would be a good substitute for Jake Moult.

Toumani Diagouraga released by Morecambe. Big strong defensive midfielder. 34 now but surely has a season left in the tank and NL level. We are gonna need an old head or 2. Seen him a couple of times. Won't do anything spectacular but is solid.
-
Next seasons captain to be announced today
-
Got a feeling that Parky will prefer younger players with a sell on value, which is why I can't see many highly paid 30 somethings coming our way.
-

For that category, I think I'd prefer Luke Murphy. A couple of years younger and club captain at Crewe.

Jordan had the armband ahead of Toby this season, so I'm still not willing to read too much into it just yet.
He painted #5 on his head last Sunday, so you could also argue he's hankering for that number here - given that it's unlikely he'd be given it at Pompey!
-
Another 'player update' today...
-
Another 'player update' today...
Wonder who it'll be today? Mooney or Kosylo?
Would have thought it was too early for Mullarkey or a new player.
Must say I'm not a big fan of the drip feed approach but I suppose it does spread the news out a bit.

It would be nice to know what's going on with all the players we have out on loan.
I'm guessing they will virtually all be being released but it would be nice to start to see the core we are keeping emerging.
Perhaps I'm just too impatient and the club are trying to fix them up before announcements are made.

I'm very pleased for him of course but gutted from an Alty point of view.
On the plus side, we're getting a real reputation for developing young talent. We've just got to make sure we profit financially from it wherever possible!
-
As it's in The Sun I'm not taking it seriously
-
Barrow probably favourites given where he lives, however they don't train in Barrow, they train in Knutsford so maybe we still have a chance?
-
They don't train in Knutsford now apparently.
What's the situation with Cooper I wonder?

There was plenty of hyperbole regarding Porter when he was signed on loan but I have to say that I found his spell with us to be underwhelming.

You're being quite kind to him - I thought he looked like a Unibond player.

Yes-there was a similar reaction on Alty Twitter yesterday when it was noted he’d now be available. Not good enough to take us forward IMO.

He's undoubtedly a good acquisition but I can't help thinking that Oldham could be a bit of a carcrash especially early in the season.
I expect they'll end up midtable much as Southend have in their first season.
I suppose it will depend on the level of financial investment over the next few weeks.

100% on this, which is why I think we’ll push to get them for the August/Easter double header. 1600 fuming Oldham fans packed into Moss Lane watching their boys take a 2-0, a proper Welcome to the Conference moment.
