According to main site a pitch inspection will take place at about 10.15 am tomorrow morning. Does'nt sound to good as temps are due to fall well below zero tonight. :(
-
I wouldnt expect much football to be on anywhere that doesnt have undersoil heating this weekend to be honest.
It says that Neil expects the temperature in the pitch to go down to -12c.
I'm no Bill Giles but I reckon thats going to struggle to take a stud.
-
It'll be Dino Zoff.
-
More than likely will be off
-
Don't know how cold it is up there but it gets up to 2-3C down here by mid-morning, I'd have tought the inspection could wait an hour or so longer, its only Stalybridge.

It is probably to save the manager travelling from Hull
-
games already off in leagues 1 and 2, including shrewsbury v port vale which are fairly close.

That's their problem not ours.
-
Went past Salford Rugby ground & their sheets are still on.
They have been on for at least 5 days now.
-
Listen, I am the Chairman of the "Get Annoyed When People Who Haven't Seen the Pitch Tell the World its Off" group but if its currently -12 in the pitch it ain't looking good.
If it is off I am demand changes both on the board and to the management by the way. It's not good enough.
-
If the game is on I will donate £50.00 to the "Save Jim Rushes Arse Campaign"

Our Manager doesn't live in Hull.
-
Its Lee Sinnott that lives in Hull, so it is our problem.

They have a live Sky game tomorrow night.

Can we all stop giving out Lee Sinnots home address please, I'll be getting removal requests soon from the address police

Good point.......in future people must refer to Lee living in Humberside (or The East Riding of Yorkshire as it is now once again known). ;D

Just been out the back to inspect the back lawn in downtown Timperley and that's taking a stud at the moment.
So if the sun gets on the pitch at Moss Lane early doors then there is hope, and besides...
who wants to spend Saturday afternoon in Tesco's ?
-
Was at the ground earlier, majority of the pitch did actually look okay but the bits in the shade were completely frozen.

That's always the problem isn't it - the parts of the pitch in the shadow of the main stand. I demand that the board apologise for building the stand in such a ridiculous location.

for gods sake MadFrankie, if the board have responsibility for anything it's the suns position in the sky at this time of year. Utterly preposterous that they haven't sorted that by now. Sack the lot.

I think he lives at that house that had the delivery address when somebody tried to hack your account!
-
I was sat in my lounge earlier, temperature was 21 degrees, there is no chance the game will be off with temperatures like that around.
Bring on the Vegas.

Looks however can be decieving! Even the bits which were no longer white were still rock hard early this afternoon
-
If it goes ahead i will bare my arse in burtons window

The good people of Alty are safe.
The Bay, 'fax and Pisston are all off.
-
very much off the initial topic but with Lee living in Hull, I'm wondering if last weekend he travelled 2 hours to Altrincham to get on the coach with the team or did if he made an hour drive and met the squad in gainsborough?
I only ask because i remember seeing Tom Kearny getting a train home from euston station after some southern away game (wimbledon i think).

Yet another tragic loss in Alty, is burtons. Just for a tension creator in moments like these...
-
dont a few of the players live quite away from here , Clee , Reeves for example , game not a chance of being on imo

The board should have had the foresight and ambition to put the sun on a contract. We haven't and its now gone. When will we learn?

I'll double it, provided that I can watch you insert it up his arse..............in 50p pieces.

That could please a few wives & girlfriends!

I've just done a 3.30am pitch inspection and can report it was warm enough for me to enjoy a coffee on my patio in sale and the car isn't even iced up.....we need the inspecting ref to show some good old fashioned 1970s spunk and fish out the red ball and stick two fingers up at injury lawyers 4 u.....
-
Let's just hope ay lads
-
No cars frozen here in alty but they could have thawed out I suppose, oh well either way its wetherspoons at 11

;D brilliant
One of the plus points of having a 3G astro over grass
:D shall we ask Staylbridge if they fancy playing it at BTH?
-
Can't we just run an extension cable from GH house and plug in 50 hairdryers to thaw the shaded bit of pitch ;)
-
The great irony does appear to be that it didn't freeze here over night but I'd be surprised if the temperature rose enough to thaw the pitch from yesterday. Even if the grassy bits take a stud the muddy parts in the goals and up and down the touchlines are probably rock hard.
Can anyone with a memory of the mid to late 90s tell me how games at Northwich and Macclesfield went on on white and sparkly pitches that would get called off today?
-
Yesterday lunchtime it wasn't just the shaded bits that were solid - it all was
-
Just had a text saying it's off

I remember the game at Northwich on Boxing Day 1994 that was played on a snow-covered pitch with an orange ball. Also, the 3-2 win at Macc in 1995/96 took place after some serious snowfall - that night will live long in the memory!
-
It wasn't just that the pitches were snow covered, they were frozen.
We won at Stafford not that long ago on a snow covered pitch around Christmas time too.
-
Yeah, I particularly remember players falling on their arse left, right and centre at the aforementioned Northwich fixture.

George Oghani was playing in white trainers I think!

What a name from the past!

(In a Yorkshire accent) I remember when we'd play in 6 feet of snow after a 28 hour shift down t'pit and couldn't even afford boots!
