Wetherspoons beer festival

Starting Wednesday 28th October until Sunday 15th November. Wetherspoons really should get more credit. They offer good beer, plenty of choice and fair prices. I will be sampling a pint of everything

They train their staff diabolically. They often fail to turn labels around when something has gone. The condition of beer at Wetherspoons is often poor.

Cheap though...

They buy beer that is nearly at it's sell by date but still drinkable. That is why they regularly run out of things. All the festival beer will be top quality.

They are offering a special taster deal. For the price of a pint you can have three different beers in third of a pint glasses. I intend to sample them all. ;)

What has any of this got to do with Altrincham FC?

Nothing at all 1981, but I need to reply.

JDW do not buy beer at its sell by date, most cask beers have a shelf life of 3-5 days anyway. They have a very efficient and large consumer profile in the same way say Tesco do, to enable them to purchase and sell cheaply. Sadly the low price of their products including food result in some venues being rather down at heel and underwhelming.

Lots of Alty fans drink there before games.

The key issue is, how strict are they on IDing?

beg to differ SW I was informed by one of there managers that they do buy "almost out of date stock"  in bulk  at discounted rates however this mostly applies to keg and bottles.

trad beer has a shelf life of 3 to 5 days once the barrell has been tapped but will keep in cool conditions for approx 1 month .

i cant wait for a good pint of bitter 2 weeks to go I suspect a pint of sam smiths will be my first bitter victim . The keg of strongbow is already assigned to me in the railway

I'm coming home ive done my time dadadadadadaddadadadadadadadadada

It was proper cask stuff I referred to, I don't go near the other stuff!

a pint of whitbread Trophy would do for me at this point in myu life.
As an almost founder member of CAMRA my previous self would turn in its own grave at the amount of "wee k fizzy ersatz lager" (i thank you Roger Protz) that I consume
let alone the Keg Cider but then i have been a guiding light in the advancment and product placement of Katy cider

I had a pint of Whalebone at a beer festival (99% sure that was the name). It tasted so bad I was insistent it was off, but all the experienced beer-guzzlers were insisting it's just a beer the vast majority of people despise. If what I tasted is what the brewer was going for, then he deserves the title of 'producer of the worst beer in the history of the world ever'.
