I am so up for this. Just wish I could be there, but good luck to all the lads tonight. Give it every last ounce of effort and play like we know you're capable of!
Hark now here, the Alty sing,
The Northwich ran away!
And we will fight forever more,
Because of derby day!
-
ok i have the computer all set, pity we dont have radio coverage, but so long as we beat Northwich i dont mind

ok i have the computer all set, pity we dont have radio coverage, but so long as we beat Northwich i dont mind
Well we barely had radio coverage against York last week but we muddled through! :)
I have someone texting me from the game so I'll post updates as I get them.
-
Just about to leave for the game....COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE BASTERDS!!
-
Nothing less than 28 nil will do...

Get in there you reds and Hughsey sing your head off for the lads!
-
and whilst sitting here getting all wound up not being at ML,how come Vics didn't sign Arseshaving - surely they could afford him?
roll-on 7.45!
-
I am so nervous.
Just hope we do the business tonight, it's going to be tough. We are well capable of winning but we must guard against complacency. Derby games are totally unpredicatable.
-
Apparently, Dino of Arabia is in attendance tonight.
Or Madman Maamria as he likes to be known. ;D
-
Coburn
Smith
McGregor
Young
Lane
Doughty
Hadfield
Lawton
Senior
Banim
Johnson
Subs
Ralph
O'Neill
Danylyk
Denham
Peyton
Senior, Banim and Johnson up front is a potentially mouthwatering lineup! Come on you reds!
-
It certainly should test there defence which looked a bit wobbly against woking
-
Could get up to 11th tonite! Please!
-
I feel sick. :(
-
me too!
-
good to see chris back in the line up
-
let's hope Elam plays like the age of his shirt number 36! Will Vics get to number 50 this season? More players used than points gained looks a cert!
-
they're playing fanfare for the common man at Wolves as the players walk out! Stealing our theme!

-
A Wrexham fan said they were dirty in the game against them.
Should have had at least two players sent off apparently
-
Classic BBC
Correction - 6:56
The official flags James Smith offside. Ryan Clarke takes the free kick.
Correction - 6:56
The offside flag is raised against James Smith. Matthew Bailey restarts play with the free kick.
6:56
James Smith is caught offside. Indirect free kick taken by Jamie Stevens
I'm really not that bothered who took the kick - honest!
-
My trusted source says not a dirty game. Dale unlucky with a chance just now.
-
its typical of the beeb
5 fouls to nil so far
-
Banim must have done well in training to get in ahead of Joe. Must be showing some good application- and good on him for that
-
wonder if elam has relised hes signed for a team thats going to get relegated

Hopefully this will shatter any confidence they may have had.
Let's get at them!
-
I'm wearing a green T-shirt.
I don't normally ask men to get their clothes off, but..........
-
We've got to concentrate and make sure we finish the job now.
Still a long way to go!

-
Still feel sick! :o
I think I feel more nervous now!
-
Norwich equalise!
-
Please can nobody ever make a joke about the score on a match thread ever again. I had to wait for sky sports to confirm the event. Deeply distressing!
COME ON ALTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Still feel sick! :o
Me too, we're all a bit in the wars; I got made redundant yesterday. J's mum is being a hero and will be doing 2 virtually full time jobs
-
Still feel sick! :o
I think I feel more nervous now!
Agreed. Nerves like a bag 'o' sh*t here!
My excellent source at Moss Lane says we are in total control.
-
just trying pass the time this is just too stressful, diversions help!
-
must admit just finished my 2nd whiskey
-
Sounds close
34.18 Jamie Stevens produces a volleyed right-footed shot from deep inside the penalty area which goes wide of the left-hand post.
Oops -bloody bbc

Me too, we're all a bit in the wars; I got made redundant yesterday. J's mum is being a hero and will be doing 2 virtually full time jobs
Keep your chin up, I was made redundant in November but I've got a new job now. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you'll get through it!
-
must admit just finished my 2nd whiskey
Good idea!
If we score 17 more goals with no reply tonight we'll be in 11th
-
Jennifers Dad, sorry to hear your news, happended to me in 1991, 2 kids under five huge mortgage etc... don't let the situation get you down, fight back!

Might become a male prostitute, but I'd have to pay the punters to go with me!!!
-
sorry to hear that JD hope things work out for you

My excellent source at Moss Lane says we are in total control.

Traditionally that's when we're most likely to concede!
-
Thanks all, J's mum is being a rock and I have a couple of irons in the fire
-
what a comforting thought sleepy
-
its about now that chris senior scores
-
How I'd love a second goal to give us a little breathing space!
-
What do you do JD, someone on here might know someone who knows someone etc etc...
I hope alty win for you tonight mate. On the bright side Jennifer will be pleased to have you around a bit more!
-

Jack of some trades: customer service my forte. Last job debt collection - admittedly that was the Vics of jobs (pile of sh*te & short of money!)
-
they have had 3 shots on the run all blocked not even getting to Stu but they are counted as on target by the bbc
-
FGR 1 up!
-
Don't believe I'm saying this, but would rather have Histon win
H/T at Moss Lane
-
HT 1-0
Come on lads, same again second half!!
-
right chocolate time
-
Could really do with Histon winning by a good margin.
-
Any news of how big or otherwise the gate is? Many Vics there?
-
right chocolate time
Whisky and chocolate! You out of dry ginger Harold?
-
Not sure. I understand the crowd is bigger than average but no further details.
-
Any idea who is playing where?
Who's left back / left mid?
Assume Banim and Johnson up front. Lawton and Hadfield middle of midfield. Senoir wide right.
Back four / back five?
-
Whiskey time!
-
My mate at the game reckons about 1200, which is what I expected for a Tuesday night rearranged game.
Could have stuck 500 on that had it been New Year, but I suppose 2 x 1000+ gates on consecutive crap Tuesday nights is decent enough.
-
I'm also on the whisky: An Arran "Robert Burns" blend based on Arran Malt
-
JW Black Label for now, Green Label if we **n
3p.ts tonite will be massive...cross everything, carry out all known supersticious activties.... try to avoid punching the laptop keyboard to bits with crazed frustration..
-
I don't care if the crowd is 12 as long as we win*.
;D
* Well maybe I do, but the result is way more important!
-
Any idea who is playing where?
Who's left back / left mid?
Assume Banim and Johnson up front. Lawton and Hadfield middle of midfield. Senoir wide right.
Back four / back five?
My guess:
Altrincham
01 Coburn
02 Lane 04 McGregor 05 Young
22 Smith 03 Doughty
08 Hadfield 07 Lawton
24 Banim 14 Johnson 19 Senior
-
Just heard that we've not played well at all apart from a 10 min spell after the goal. We're apparently lucky to be winning.
The goal was just bizarre, keeper caught the ball but them seemed to just throw it on the ground on the goal line.
We're just hoofing it up to Dale who's stuggling against tall defenders.
Attacking the chequers end this half.
-
Come on my English friends get on the real McCoy.
I am on Islay single malt.

lol Jd after reading your post went and checked the drinks cabinet and we have one tin of ginger ale in there
-
Come on my English friends get on the real McCoy.
I am on Islay single malt.
Quality: when we were quarentined in my (old) work a week lsst Monday we were allowed to finish off the Bunnahabhain Islay Malt - the finest malt I have tasted.
They also make Johnnie Walker behind my (old) work!!!!
-
Come on my English friends get on the real McCoy.
I am on Islay single malt.
Someone bought me a bottle of Laphraig once, couldn't get along with that, tasted very funny.
-
In honour of Mr Gazelle's trip to ML I'm on the Katy!
-
My 40 year old Laophraig ran out a while back... can't even spell it never mind drink it! It was peaty light and wonderful.. an acquired taste though.
For heavens sake don't put the ginger ale in decent whisky, that's a crime.
-
I will now make a prediction:
Both teams will score in the second half.
-
How come McGregor's captain? I thought Robbie Lawton was the captain??
-
I will now make a prediction:
Both teams will score in the second half.
Level until the last minute when Vics give away their ubiquitous last minute goal
-
indeed my ML reporter said we're not playing well enough. Don't as long as we win
-
Evening all. Chilean Merlot for me. My Dad's decided not to go tonight because it's 'too cold'. Unbelievable.
-

One of GH's half time blasts
-
Afternoon all...checking in from sunny San Francisco California, and good to see we are 1 up....
-
This sounds worrying:
"HT Altrincham lead 1-0 but Greg Young looks unlikely to complete the game after collision with Clark. Vics have had plenty of the game."

Second half started
Come on Alty!!!!!!!

McGregor booked, Stu saves free kick... get up the other end you dorks"

Peyton on for Dale
-
warren on for dale?
-
Dale injured?
48:25 Substitution Warren Peyton joins the action as a substitute, replacing Dale Johnson.
-
Peyton on for Johnson.
Bit odd.
-
tactical or injury? Any ideas?
-
Maybe a bit more defensive cover on the left
-
Sky says injury - all we need
-
Denham obviously not fit then.
-
i wondered about that
-
FGR 2-0 up
-
too many shots raining in!
-
Sounds like we're getting mullered at the moment!
-
its goin' to be along 35 mins at this rate
-
makes you wonder which is the home team??

My source says we're not under pressure at all.
Apparenty Lane had to be dragged off Elam - was going to hit him apparently!

Having a few chances of our own now. COME ON ALTY!

-
Are Vics having enough corners?
-
7 so far to our 1. Also 13 shots, 8 on target!
-
Are Vics having enough corners?
As long as they don't convert them!
-
we are letting them have to many corners and shots,we should take this game by the scruff of the neck and hammer vics out of sight
-
20 mins and counting... slowly!
-
Matt Bailey is getting on the end of a few of these corners
-
I can't cope with this.
-
We should be beating teams like this!
There! Said it!
-
don't forget, its hard to read the Alty numbers
-
Histon back in it - 2-1 to FGR at the mo

You can never truly predict a derby, so it goes down as a good result.
It will be interesting to see the report to see if the shots count relates to the performances.
Well done Alty

You scrawney gets.

Thanks for the support earlier and good health to all.
Tata folks!

Vomit avoided, now drinking a beer!
Well done lads!
-
Toasting the boys with the Green Label (must ask JW to change the name!)
-
Only more point needed to match last season's tally - almost entirely down to improved defence. When I think back to the likes of Maddox & Talbot...
-
Night all, my boss due home soon! Got to wash the pots etc.
-
does whisky go off? serious question. when you all were taliking about it i remembered i have a bottle of single malt i bought on holiday 12 years ago. i dont like the stuff
-
Brilliant boys well done!!!! Six points off Vics is a good achievement, and as was said in a previous post, we are looking solid now.
Lets push on now.
COMON ALTY!!!!

Sealed I'm sure it would be excellent now.
-
By all accounts a terrible game tonight, but football is a results business and we got it when it mattered.
Saturday is a real 6 pointer in my opinion now and it will be a very tough encounter. Let's hope for another 3 points!
Very happy man tonight!! ;D
-
So chuffed!!
Like said above, not a great game and how did senior and peyton balls up that great chance towards the end?! But who cares we got our 3 points and i thought we created a cracking atmosphere! Especially seconod half...its good to be back down in the corner on the popular side!
-

BBC report
"Altrincham 1-0 Northwich
Jody Banim netted the only goal of the game as Altrincham recorded a victory over struggling neighbours Northwich.
Banim broke the deadlock when he converted from close range following Matthew Doughty`s free-kick.
Lee Elam wasted a chance for Northwich when he fired his shot straight at home goalkeeper Stuart Coburn from 12 yards.
Joel Byrom and Karl Murray went close for the visitors, while Banim forced a save from Northwich keeper Ryan Clarke with a stinging drive."
We like the highlighted bit!
-
Dont be to proud you have only beat us 1-0 in both games must of the other teams in this league score at least 4 ::) well done you deserve it good luck for rest of season hopefully play you again sometime soon ;D

Aweful performance, we were totally out played and lucky to come about with 3 points, not even sure 1 point would hsve been fair.
HOWEVER WHO CARES WE WON !!! Clarke I love you HAHAHAHAHAHA
seriously though we MUST improve, the games against York and Vics (scum) have been woeful.

That was a local newspaper report: doesn't mean its true.
Can anyone enlighten us?

saw the local chavs being removed by your stewards :D

Vics chavs, I presume. We don't have any!

I saw your ridiculous post on your forum claiming that the away end was full tonight. One of the more sensible contributors to your forum had the figure at nearer 200.
Please stop making yourself look such a berk, it really does you no favours.
-
We managed to get about 100 14 yr olds from somewhere tonight. Its all good apart from three or four who got a bit giddy.

-
Great result.
Sounds like we were second best for a lot of the game but settle for the result.
Have to say I hope Vics survive. I'd prefer to play them every season (and beat them of course) than Tamworth or Wimbledon. Can't see the fans being up for those games and I doubt we'd get 1200 on a cold Tuesday night for those either.
-
top half?
Should be 12th
We are. Another 18 goals and we'd have gone 11th.

I can see why. :)

Alty still have 51 points to play for from the remaining games. Yes it wasn't pretty tonight but we got the three points and are currently nearer the playoffs than the dropzone.
The defence this season has been top notch ;D

Last season it took us until our final home game to break the 40 point barrier and we finished the season on just 42 points. That we have almost surpassed this within 30 games is an absolute credit to all the players and management.
I would like to publicly offer my congratulations to all, whilst warning against complacency. The job is only half done.
Keep it up lads, you're doing brilliantly!

Starting with Eastbourne Borough at Moss Lane this Saturday. They have had a decent season season so far but so have we.
-
Don't get too carried away by the result - we were truly dire. Thank God for our two magnificent centre halves and poor Chris Senior who ran and ran all by himself all night long. If we play like that against Eastbourne, we will get turned over. I'm putting it down to us having several key players out, some of whom may be back for Saturday, but in truth, we had too much dross out there tonight and Vics were a country mile better than us. Fingers crossed that Johnson is okay and the 3 Ds are back, because we need them all.
-
Tonights performance was pretty poor, we didn't seem to be getting it to the strikers effectively, defence was great though, they kept us in the game. Northwich fans were piss poor, its only up the road its not as if its a hours drive.
Can I just say well done to the alty support the atmosphere was fantastic.
-
Good to see we are getting results even though we arent paying as well as we could ...6 points of Northwich is always welcome ....is 55 points still considered as a minimum to guarantee safety ?
-
Don't get too carried away by the result - we were truly dire.
Alty were not that bad but heh we won and thats the main thing. The two centre halves recently have been top notch, give credit where its due.
The bottom two look doomed to me. Never been a big fan of guessing how many points we need, lets just keep it going being tight at the back and grabbing crucial goals the other end. Colin Little fingers crossed should be back before too long!!
-
Both teams were poor tonight, our midfield was where we lacked, Densmore and Danylyk sorely missed!
Having said that, they had few clear cut chances, Elam had the best and fluffed them both.
Anyway it makes a change for us to play poorly and get the points, well done lads :)
PS i hope Vics stay up for the Derby games they add a bit of spice.
-
Can't be arsed quoting but whoever slagged Maddox and Talbot off earlier really is a pillock. I could go on for a bit about what they did for us etc but I wont.
The match tonight was truly woeful - no more to be said other than hoping nobody had brought a friend in the hope of attracting them to future Alty games.
I hate to repeat myself but what tonight proved to me again and beyond dispute is how much we miss Shaun when he isn't playing.
-
We weren't great but we did enought o ensure that we held out with a bit of luck, i.e. if we had played worse our luck wou;ldn't have held. You know what I mean.
We really are stretched at the moment. Tonight, no Densmore, Danylyk (failed fitness test), Denham, Little and only a half fit Senior. Johnson off with injury and by all acounts Young shouldn't even have come out for the second half, looks like both will be out on Saturday.
Wasn't pretty but did enough.
-

He didn't 'slag' Maddox and Talbot, he simply said the current defence is much better.
This is obviously true.
I'm sure you could go on for hours about what they did for us but it would be completely irrelevant to the point that was actually made.
-

yes, i concur.
their PV is through the roof, and an essential part of our team this year.
-
A great derby win is always nice, just wish we were in the position we could have helped Northwich out,but we need to get the magic 50 again at least.Good to see mat and little cam on again though.
Mad dog and Tabs are from a different period as much as i think they were great,we have moved forward now and at least we have 2 good centre halfs.3 pts from Saturdays game will do nicely and really set us up.
-
Yes, a horrible game, but job done and 6 points from the Vics.
Now, we have just got to hope they stay in business until the end of the season, otherwise all that effort will be wasted and we will be 6 points poorer!
-
Well done alty i thought we were worth at least a point but our keeper makes 1 error and you score yours makes 2 and we don't, poor support from us tonight both in terms of numbers and vocally but thats what happens when you don't win since october.
the club is truely in the crap and I don't think we will see this one out.
As your fans said we will never play you again whilst this may not be quite true it will be a long time.
All the best.
-
Possibly the worst Alty performance I've seen. The replacements for the injured/suspended players just aren't good enough - in the 2nd half we played like we had 10 men. We desperately need Densmore, Little, Dale and Denham back ASAP.
Oh, and Coburn, if after the 50th goal kick it's still going straight to the opposite goalie, how about throwing it out instead? Crazy idea.
Thank feck we won :)

The replacements are going to be godd enough though are they?
If they were they wouldn't be replacements.
Last nights was a pretty scratch team that played poorly but got three points.
-
We won, we got 3 points, we have our first 'double' of the season... and against our rivals...
and we're all disappointed, I think we've come a long way in a short time...
I must admit it was the first time in a while I found myself getting 'bored' at a game. Eastbourne will be no pushover at all, and if we play like that would expect them to take 3 points home.
Good to see EVERY 14 year old stella lover from the area in the ground last night... :)
-
Coburn in "Heckled despite clean sheet" shocker!
Remarkable!

Isn't it just great to be playing badly and winning? That's how leagues are won! ;D
-
We were poor.
But our defense was IMMENSE. Some of the last ditch challenges were quality.
Their defence is very poor and will cost them safety!

Does anyone know why the police turned up? When I left the ground I counted around 10 police cars/Vans. It was hardly seens of fans rioting in the stands and throwing seats at each other. It gives the club a black name when locals see the cop shop surrounding the ground for a non-league game, people will subsequently develope the wrong impression of the club.
Just another point will Dale be fit for saturday, he definatly went off injured, he was only on for 5mins of the second half. I hope its not to serious.
-
It's a pity the cops weren't so quick to respond when the Stretford Squirrels were in town!
-
What was the away count last night i would guess at a very poor 180 - 200 which is 300 down on our usual alty support.
See you next year oh sorry forgot we won't.

With respect CB, that's a load of bollocks basically. Laney had quite a solid game last night as he has all season, Peyton did quite well shoring things up and quelled the growing threat from Vics left wing, Hadfield never took a backward step, James Smith performed adequately again and Joe O'Neill has also shown up well recently.
I think you forget that these guys aren't doing the main job. Last season some of them were the first names on the team sheet and now they are squad players which is the level we should/want to be at.

Exactly what I think, it shows signs that now we can play badly and not get a tonking off anybody.

Very literary Ballers! ;D

Two points(or should it be 6 points). We have played in first gear in both games against the Vics and we have won both games. Second point. It was nice to see Chris Senior play for 90 minutes.

So you think we played well? As soon as Dale went off our backs were against the wall (inexplicably), the passing was atrocious, the midfield non-existant, Peyton ran around like a headless chicken as usual, and the fact we had 2 of the league's smallest players up front didn't seem to stop the endless supply of hoofed up high balls which surprisingly they didn't get. I'm not a fan of Joe, but even I thought he should have been introduced earlier so that we would have someone who could at least try and hold the ball up. The only good point was the defending. Considering we were playing a team adrift at the bottom of the table, it was appalling. If we play like that against Eastbourne we're going to get pasted.
I think you forget that these guys aren't doing the main job
No, that's why I said I didn't think they were good enough and we needed the first teamers back ASAP.

Against the worst team in the league and leading 1-0, why the hell did we have to have every player back in the box defending corners and free kicks? >:( >:( >:(
-
Sorry, I didn't make that completely clear. I don't think we played well to be honest and quite clearly yes we do need Densmore, Danylyk, Johnson and Little back. Obviously.
What I meant was that the players I mentioned are perfectly adequate replacements (as long as they're not starting every single week). I too would have had Joe on earlier. By that i do mean replacements. AS Ecky said, other wise they would be 1st choice.
Forget it...
VoD, as poor as Northwich were, they are very, very dangerous from set pieces. Altho I think the point has been discussed generally.

To be fair there have been some proper dicks knockin round recently, I heard one young lad afeter the York game say to his mate some thing like this ' eyar yo if we see any York fans on the tram shall we f**k em up or what'.
His mate was about a foot tall and could pass for a five year old and replied 'yeah man'
NICE ;D

The worrying thing is that if they did decide to start trouble it would more than likely be innocent people who ended up getting hurt. York have got some really nice and friendly fans who get on well with our supporters, but I'm sure they've also got their fair share of "lads" if it came to it too.
