Following on from the change to our away kit, and, reading how Crystal Palace are changing their badge, I wonder what the general forum consensus on changing the club crest/badge would be? Over that last few years Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Oldham, Huddersfield to name but a few have updated, modernised and simplified their badges, is it time to follow suit, update/simplify our crest and join the 21st century?
here is the link for the possibilities of the new crystal palace badge - http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/crystal-palace-make-own-shirts_14965 (http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/crystal-palace-make-own-shirts_14965)

Whilst i've always liked our club crest, it does seem a bit out of touch. Overly complex, it is very hard to doodle in the back of geography textbooks and it's detail makes it almost impossible and rather expensive to tattoo.
If we were to change, I quite liked that pin badge with the robin wearing a red and white scarf.

Jennifer just saw this and said, "That's on your jacket!"
Lets stick with what a wee 4 year old recognises!

Can we have the words FOOTBALL CLUB on the crest. many years ago MUFC removed those words from theirs, and I guess that's just what they are, and aren't.
-
What on earth is on the flag at the top? looks like a dead snail
-
It's just the towns crest isn't?
I'd like it be the muscly Robin we had on the Tottenham T-Shirts punching a sheep whilst kicking over a large packet of salt.

Yes, that should be on school childrens blazer badges too

Loving this Palace fans response!
A = National front.
B = Crystal Palace Super Eagles of London Soccerball.
C = Template badge for custom team on Fifa 12.
D = Bank.

Agree that it would be good to have a simpler crest that can be easily used on merchandise for example. However, for it to look good we would have to get proper designers/brand people involved and that would cost money.

I was thinking something like this.

The two stars are essential.

Yes, because then we could end up with something as aesthetically stunning as that London 2012 Olympics logo......

leave it alone...

This is better than the current badge, which is more of a local govt / municipal authority symbol - you see it in Alty library and probably in the town hall as well. Basically there is too much going on in the current badge (there's at least 10-15 different logos in it, including some kind of sausage and veil combo at the top) and it's more Altrincham government than Alty FC.
You could have a competition to design a new one & invite local schools to give it a go (it needn't be restricted to kids though, anyone could send in a design). Provide guidelines like:
we play in red and white stripes, nickname is the Robins, won conference/ APL twice, FA trophy twice, (I like your 2 gold stars idea), founded in 1891 (or 1903?), knocked out 16 FL clubs of FA cup (this could be shown by 16 tear drops enveloping the badge, reflecting the victims). OK not the 16 tears bit.
Someone (e.g. TASC / the board) choose the top 10 designs, put these 10 on the website and then the fans vote for the best one. Local papers love that kind of thing - would be good publicity and the club gets a nice new badge.
