Title: Team for Kiddy
Post by: Jenga on August 31, 2010, 01:56:57 PM
                             Coburn

Densmore       Smith    Williams    Brown

Denham      Crowell    Danylykykyk  Clee

            McCarthy      Reeves

Assuming Denham is fit if not push Densmore up and bring in Holmes in the middle of defense and push Smith to right back.

Is there any chance at all that Robbie Lawton will be fit for Saturday?

Sometimes you don't know what you've got until it's gone......

I did say after the Man Utd friendly I thought Lawton looked hungrier and was more vocal

Stu, Robbie, Chrissy Denham, regardless of whether fit or not. Absolutely meh about the rest of them at the moment to be honest.

I think Densmore will be struggling for Sat. Not heard anything official, but he took a knock towards the end yesterday and looked to be struggling. Coupled with the knee ligament tweak he's been carrying he might be rested.

If Densmore is fit, I would go with what Jenga has, I might be tempted to include Twiss though. I know he's had a bit of a hammering on here, but I think he's got something to offer and he needs time on the pitch (45 mins in the last 2 games isn't enough to show how good he can be)

I like the look of that team and formation Jenga.
Now is the time for the lads to don the shirt. Puff out the chest, get there heads up and fight for every ball..

I'd be happy to see that side take to the field. I do quite like the look of 3-5-2 with Smith as the spare man to Welch and Williams at the back, but I suppose it's horses for courses and depends how the other mob line up. Clee as an out-and-out winger has to be worth a crack. He and Dale were linking up brilliantly preseason.

HI ALL
FIRST TIME USER HERE!
I VISIT THE FORUM ON A REGULAR BASIS AND DECIDED TO SHARE MY OPINION   ???
AFTER THE RECENT RESULTS AND PEFORMANCES I THINK A CHANGE OF FORMATION COULD BE WHAT WE NEED AND GET BACK TO BASICS
MY TEAM WOULD BE FOR SATURDAYS CRUCIAL GAME
                           GK-COBURN
RB-SMITH    CB-WELCH  CB-WILLIAMS   LB-JOSEPH
RM-DENHAM CM-DANYLK CM-LAWTON (IF FIT) LM-CLEE
                                     AM-TWISS
                                     FC-JOHNSON

BROWN HAS NOT PEFORMED AT ALL FOR ME AT LB-APART FROM HIS SET PLAYS IN PRE SEASON I THOUGH HE WAS BELOW AVERAGE..DENSMORE LOOKS TO BE PLAYING THROUGH INJURIES-REST HIM TILL HE IS RIGHT..MCCARTHY LOOKED LIVELY TO BE FAIR BUT TWISS SURELY COUDNT BECOME A BAD PLAYER OVERNIGHT-BRING MCCARTHY ON LAST 30-40 FOR TWISS..CROWELL LOOKS LOST WITHOUT KEARNEY,HIS DISTRIBUTION HAS BEEN TERRIBLE,HE DOESNT SEEM FIT,HIS SET PLAYS HAVE ALL BEEN WASTED,MAYBE THE LONG TRAVELLING IS TOO MUCH BUT DOEST NOT LOOK B.S.P QUALITY-LAWTON HAS BEEN A HUGE LOSS AND HIS ABSENCE HAS HAD A BIGGER IMPACT THAT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT..IF YOU REMEMBER LAST LAST YEAR WE WON THIS FIXTURE 3-2 I KNOW PERSONNEL HAVE LEFT BUT DOES ANONE HAVE THE STARTING 11 AVAILABLE FOR THAT GAME????

If switching McCarthy and Twiss is a consideration, then McCarthy should start - if HE runs out of steam, then Twiss will find it easier to pick up the pace of the game later on.

Coburn

Densmore
Brown
Welch
Williams

Lawton
Danylyk
Crowell

Denham
Johnson
Twiss

Subs
Smith
Clee
Reeves
McCarthy
Coates

Smith & Williams looked all at sea against Mansfield. Robbie needs an old head alongside him
Drop Brown? Give me a break! He just needs to play in the correct position
We need two holding midfielders to shore up the defence
Without Chris Denham, we have no pace - he must play, injured or not!
Clee and Reeves will be very effective subs left and right
Young McCarthy looks decent, but Twiss needs games

I struggle with seeing Smithy on the bench .. He has been our best bloody player this season.

Their is no logic whatsoever in playing anybody who is injured.. All that will do is put him out for a longer period..

McCarthy deserves a start and I am not too dissapointed with Reeves TBH

what is browns correct position-his defending against mansfield was not great, whilst Joseph doesnt offer as much goning forward but is better defensively!
I agree about Denha'ms pace but i wouldnt be tempted to risk his injury even further, rather get him right instead of rushing him back.
I also agree about Williams,he misses Young so so much.

Smith and Williams is NOT working. I can see Robbie at Alty longer than Smithy, so we must build a defence around him.
Brown is a left back and defends well in a flat back four, not as a wing back in a back 5 as is GH's preferred system.
Michael Twiss is a proven scorer at this level and just needs games. James McCarthy looks fabulous, but it's either him or Dale in the first team.
The comment about Chrissy Denham was a bit tongue in cheek. However we really need him to be fit and play. He has pace like Damien Reeves, but he can also finish.
More than anything, 3 of our new signings need to leave and free up a bit of money for a Tom Kearney type player. Shame we missed out on Michael Carr - he's probably the player we needed. I know this is all easier said than done, but that really is what needs to be done.
These are my opinions based on the games I have seen - Macc, Southport and Mansfield.

well Johnson has gone so my team would be out. I would like to see us revert to the style that worked well last season. Something like

                         Coburn
           Williams     Smith      Joseph
                                                           Brown
Denham     Lawton    Crowell     Danlyk
                                                            Clee
                         McCarthy
