That tomorrow will go to a replay should it be a draw? Do the Cheshire FA not know where to get off or what? They're lucky we havent pulled out of it like the league sides, replay for Godsake, heres hoping we trolly them first time of asking.

Altrincham FC First Team / Droylsden next saturday
« on: February 02, 2008, 09:44:39 PM »
Considering how near it is, and the importance of the game, Id been disappointed if we didnt have 400 at the butchers arms next saturday. For a game of similar stature 300 made the trip to tamworth last season. In an ideal world we'd be hoping to see 600 on the away end next week, do your best to make the short trip to droylsden, be it by coach, car, tram and bus or even taxi, even if you dont normally do away games, this is one not to be missed.

Altrincham FC First Team / My thoughts on yesterday
« on: January 27, 2008, 08:58:45 AM »
Cambridge created more chances overall, coburn made two world class saves, and potter made one from a senior header.I cant help feeling the game was ruined though by another fast tracked dick head on the touchline, the 15 year old linesman nearest to our following was frankly pathetic. He some how managed to miss the fact that cambridges first goal was a country mile offside and that our goal had more than a hint of offside, he also saw fit to wave away the lawton strike that from where we were stood bounced behind the line and back out, and should really have been a goal,it came as no suprise that he didnt have the bollocks to give it.He was taking direction from the ref all afternoon and always went for the easy option and didnt once raise his flag through his own judgement.

Fortunate 2nd goal, but these things happen, fair play to cambridge, all clubs get them sometimes, and they did create the more clear cut chances throughout the game.On to thursday, play like that and we should do a job against woking, well done to those that travelled including teh sneaky pocket in the mainstand  ;D

Altrincham FC First Team / Fabulous gesture by the York City Squad
« on: January 22, 2008, 07:06:11 PM »
The York City first team squad have purchased tickets for all york supporters that have travelled to tonights FA trophy reply at Grays as a gesture of thanks for them travelling all the way too such a fixture at such a time of year.Fair play to them, footballers get a lot of bad press these days, hats off to York.

Altrincham FC First Team / Juan Ugarte
« on: January 17, 2008, 10:01:14 PM »
http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport-news/wrexham-fc/2008/01/17/juan-ugarte-retires-from-football-55578-20359562/

Interesting news that he feels he has to retire from "professional football", I wonder if he'd like to keep his hand in so to speak with a little part time gig? Everyone thought Gareth Seddon was finished and look whats happened with him!. Ugarte lives in Cheshire, and even as a bit part player would score 15/20 goals at conference level, his scoring record is absolutely incredible. It might be worth inviting him down to training,to keep himself fit..................

Looks like he's signed off with the Vics

They recently won the annual kings cup and won all the group games and obviously the final, wins over Uzbekistan, Iraq (twice ) and North Korea are not to be sniffed at,

http://www.thaifootball.com/tournaments/kingcup/kingcup-2007.html

Baring in mind that Iraq are the current asian cup holders, beating Saudi Arabia (who've appeared the world cup finals on numerous occasions) 1-0 in the final last summer.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/6920434.stm

They finshed 3rd in the same group as Iraq and Australia in the asain cup in the summer, and only failed to go through the group stages as australia pipped them on goal difference!!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Cup_2007#Tournament_summary

They are ranked 121 in the world, but were actually ranked as high as 43 in the world back in 1998

Im thinking they will be a stronger side than Malawi who beat us 2-3 thanks to a last minute Sherry Msuku goal in 2002
