Crowds
« on: June 25, 2007, 04:17:29 PM »

I remember reading in a programme in 68 or so thjat the club were discontinuing the experiment of Friday night games after only 2269 (!!!) turned up for a North West Floodlight League match against Hyde.

And in the 60's my dad would not let me watch us play Wigan or Macc (but Vics was OK) because the crowds would be too high

Early seventies cars would be parked past our house on westminster and onto Hale road when we played Macc etc
even more incredible if you think of the percentage of people with cars in them days.

spot on about the TV coverage.  BUT if you can get people down to games at our level they do tend to come back. Why?

No particualr order...

1. Cost
2. Honest players (on the whole)
3. Involvement
4. Players who care about the clubs they play for
5. And for the older pople - it takes them back a few years to a world of non-corporate football.

THE PREMIERSHIP IS BORING.
THE 'CHAMPIONS' LEAGUE IS BORING.
