As the question states, I would be interested to see what effect it has had.

I voted Me - but have to add that its through my kids getting the free ticket & the dad for £5 that got me into it as well as a desire to get my kids into watching football games.

The first time I entered Moss Lane was when we lived on Golf Rd for 1 month and nicked in when the gates opened for the last 20 minutes.

I got hooked on alty together with my two brothers and dad from a fireworks display they held at the ground in about '72.

....when i think of all the admission money and other support our family must have given the club over the years because of that one event....makes you think.....the free tickets are a great idea as is anything the club does to attract more families...and the club is making great strides in this direction.....makes me reflect that maybe we didn't do enough during the glory years but we didn't have to, the crowds just turned up!

Picking spuds for pocket money led me to Moss Lane back in 1978 (all tarped up in the back of a Marina pick-up)

* Note: I said tarped, not taped, we're not talking agricultural abuse here

I got tickets when at Heyes Lane, but I was in the uneducated masses supporting one of the big Manchester clubs. It was only later, as I matured, that they became my top club as I realised when cheering the 2nd Blackpool result in Boots in Chester. It was only when I became an exiloe that I really realised I loved the club so much and, as soon as I could, started going to ML as oftern as I could.

You're the headmaster, why are you trying to blag tickets off the PE teacher?

 ;)

As stated elsewhere, it was free entry for kids when my Dad started bringing me along regularly. I know a lot of my mates started watching Alty around that sort of time too.

I started in the early 70's when i asked my next door neighbour where he was going one Saturday afternoon, "going to watch the Robins" was the answer, and that led to many happy years watching "The Robins", still do now and again, thank you Walter Baskerville (God Rest His Soul) you gave a young boy many happy (and some bad ones) memories.

At Stamford Park we got tickets and so a big group of us went to a few games. Can't remember if they were free or heavily reduced, but either way, it worked.
