He didn't even manage to last six months with us!
"New endeavours", apparently.
Perhaps he has got a new Star Wars soundtrack to compose?
-
Perhaps he couldn't face being the CEO of the club which beat Halifax three times by New Years Day and having to be there watching it! 🤔😂🤣
PS. Tongue firmly in cheek!
-
What has gone on there?? What was he like??
-
I had a weird feeling about him early on, but he appeared to be doing and saying the right things.
Maybe there is more going on than we know now we have a middle management 😂
-
I wonder if hes off to another football club ?

I wonder if hes off to another football club ?
I think that's possibly what's happened too. I wonder whether we'll ever know?
-
I had a feeling very early doors that he wouldn’t be here long. Talk the talk etc.
-
Was a really nice bloke. Onwards and upwards
-
Maybe we're looking to cut costs!

Maybe we're looking to cut costs!
If that's the case then the board really screwed up in having any CEO just six months ago. I believe this board is far better than that at financial planning.
-
All speculation as the club aren’t going to officially release the actual reason he’s gone but given he was deemed the best candidate for the job only 6 months ago (and poached from a direct rival to boot) its a very rum do.
Only two realistic reasons I can think of-he’s got a better off elsewhere & jumped ship, in which case we’ll all find out soon enough anyway. Or he’s done something naughty and/or deemed not up to it hence we’ve binned him off quickly. Difficult in such a short time to assess his impact but average gates slightly below the last 2 seasons & football for a fiver against Kiddy did not return anywhere near the gate we wanted I suspect. On the plus side Hospitality has been selling out recently & then there’s the imminent shop in the town centre.
Oh well we move on, it’s hardly Parky & Sorvs leaving.
-
Maybe didn't fancy the Q & A and being quized about what he does.🤥
-
All speculation at the moment.... unless someone knows otherwise ! , did he go or was he pushed ? Interested to see if or when we search for a replacement.

Perhaps he was without a Plan B?

I am puzzled by what a CEO is, and does.
-
I'm not trying to be facetious, but I think a lot of people share that view. 🤔

Would you prefer the term "Managing Director" They are in essence the same role?
Top dog in the building reporting to the board that owns the company. Buck should stop with them in terms of business decisions that adhere to the running operations.

I get that in retail ie Tesco and Sainsbury's etc but in a none league football club with modest turnover I think it's financially prudent to satisfy the criteria with one of the chairman fulfilling the role as they must have been doing pre CEO and will continue to do so now.

Unless Sam takes it on on a permanent basis?

With respect, we're no longer an old school non league operation. We're a full time, professional football club that costs well over a million quid a year to run within a full time, national competition. The title of CEO might be a bit grand but there's no way you could have a chairman doing a full time CEO job like that at this level
-
I suppose it depends what your business income is and how big a loss you are making. Would a CEO have a magic wand to close the gap or just be another overhead?
-
It's not just the money you bring in as a CEO. They are there day to day and improve processes internally that can also affect bottom line.
Sam does just fine on the commercial side so for a club like ours we're looking for someone who streamlines the rest and picks up the slack having 2 long distance Chairmen causes.
Negotiating better stewarding deals, improving revenue streams such as retail etc.
The team is succeeding because the management of the playing side is top class. The matchday experience etc. Improves when we have top class people in place there as well.
My tip for the board is we get an operations person in not a sales person and let Sam do that side, if it's working. Unless we've decided that Levi is that man.

Fab! That's my learning done for today.
Thank you

For anyone who is still intrigued by this (as I evidently am), he has updated his LinkedIn to say "Open to Work - New Opportunities Welcome". So I assume that scuppers the idea that he left for another job.

Ooooh. That is intriguing.
