2-2 Oxford going 2-0 up in 5 mins and batter us in the first half. Coburn saves a dodgy penalty just before half-time. An Oxford player pissed off that Jim Smith shouted at the Oxford playersagain decides to deliberately score a own goal past a bemused keeper on 51 mins. Jim Smith goes ballisitic and hauls him off and says he will have no sweets on the coach back home. Aspinall misses a retaken penalty on 80 mins. After it was re-taken because an Alty player was a millimetre inside the box. Then Joe O'Neill scores an injury time equiliser from a corner. But the goal is not confirmed for 5 mins while the officials contact a member of the Conference board  to ask it is ok for a pub team to taking points off the mighty Oxford. Steve Evans objects to this decision and says everyone is against his club. Also Tamworth complain as well. I will stop there cause I have lost the plot. I apologise.

No Colin Little? I think it's good to know that after a hard fought and tiring game against York we have a striker of Colin's ability who can come straight into the side fresh and rested. I think it would be foolish not to play him.

I think the starting lineup will be:

Coburn
Lane
Tinson
Munroe
Clancy
Lawton
Sedgemore
Whalley
Logan
Little
O'Neill

Subs
Acton
Potts
Senior
Aspinall
Scott

* Despite the above being my expected lineup, if it were up to me I'd be tempted to go with Potts on the right and drop Lawton to the bench. That way, if we pressed them early on and got in front we could bring Lawton on to help protect our lead. His energy would be vital in the latter stages anyway.

Prediction:

Alty        1-2    Oxford
Little 78           Duffy (pen) 21
                        Odubade 64
Att: 1379

Alty start off looking a little weary after Tuesday night's battling performance and come under a lot of early pressure. We make a real fight of it and put in another performance to be proud of but get caught short searching for an equaliser. Our efforts are rewarded late on with a bit of magic from Colin Little but the equaliser doesn't come and despite a narrow defeat we are left with much to be positive about. Jim Smith drinks the bar dry bemoans the "tough tackling" approach from Alty despite the win.

We are getting better and Oxford are getting worse. Ironically it's a good time to play them right now. I honestly believe we have a chance of a win. My team would be,
Coburn, Lane, Clancy, Tinson, Munroe (though I'm still not convinced by this partnership), Lawton, Sedgemore, Potts, Whalley, Little, Senior: subs Acton, Peyton, Rose, Logan, O'Neil

The best team we have seen so far and hopefully will start on saturday is

Coburn

Lane
Clancy
Munroe
Tinson

Potts
Lawton
Whalley
Peyton

Little/O Neil
Senior

Logan
Rose
Little / O Neil
Scott ( If fit)
Vall (if fit) or Sedgemore

You see Although I like Logan when he plays it means that Lawton plays on the right as we cannot accomodate both Logan and Potts, when potts plays Lawton plays in the kiddle which is far more useful, Whalley has got to play he showed some great touches tuesday and works well with Peyton and Lawton

I think we're due a clean sheet and, as we've scored in every game this season so far, that must make it 1-0 to the Robins (Have I said that before sometime?)

We didn't score against Grays.  :(

Hope you're right about the clean sheet though, that would be great!  :)

Jenga,

Is Colin Little not even worthy of a place on the bench?

Agree with Jacobs on this one, except I'd start Logan instead of Peyton. I cant see how anyone can suggest Whalley and Sedge can play together in the centre, Lawton and Whalley is the best centre mid combination at the moment....... we would get mauled with two players so week defensively like Whalley and Sedge!!!!

Peyton has to be in the squad at least. Don't know about vals injury as to when he can be back and same for scotty.

Coburn

Lane
Tinson
Munroe
Peyton

Potts (if logan doesn't start, Lawton if he does)
Val/Sedge/Robbie (robbie would be my choice if val isnt fit and potts starts)
Whalley
Logan (Peyton if Potts Starts)

O'Neill
Senior

Subs:
Acton, Little, Aspinall, Any of the above midfielders that aren't picked clancy.

If Logan starts then potts shouldn't. Leave him off and bring him in with 20-30 minutes at the end to have a go and vice versa.
