One thing I thought about Lewis Baines last season is that he was a fabulous defender, but not much of a footballer. Which is fine, sometimes that's what you need - leave it to the other lads.

From what I've seen so far this season he's improved massively with the ball at his feet - much like Toby did. Much happier to receive under pressure, still very one-footed but it is what it is.

He'd be one of the first names on my teamsheet.

Agree.
Improved quite a lot. Our best CB.
No idea why he was subbed on Tues and Roscoe stayed on......unless it was to give him that added bit of rest he will need for the 110 mins on Saturday

Completely agree about Baines, best defender at the club right now. A shame we lost Toby, they would have made an amazing partnership. Last year was a slow start by Alty and I think we had to juggle CB’s due to injury and swapping goalkeepers didn’t help either. Lots of errors by many, including slips trips and falls, giving away easy goals. Feel that Baines talks and walks a good game. Him and James Jones must continue as the first choice pairing and we should remain in our 4,2,3,1 shape and attack teams. I haven’t been this excited in years! COYR

I agree, not convinced so far, but Roscoe may yet come good....we have had plenty of others that have taken some time to get up to speed.
My thoughts at the time was that taking players from the lower Scottish leagues and N.I. is a gamble.

Agreed, I always find it funny how these players come with 'European experience' that comprises getting mullered over two legs by an Icelandic outfit, and whilst they might play for one of the better Welsh / Irish clubs, their opposition is often nowhere near the standard - whereas in the National League you can lose to anyone - home or away.

Liam has had ACL operation I think and in rehab. Not easy recovering from that type of injury
