Good grief. Well, the same sh*t referee for both sides, so let's not get hung up on it.

What an absolutely ridiculous appointment for such a high pressure game,do we have any reasonable action we can take to ask for them to change the official? We need an experienced ref for this fixture not a jumped up kid that likes to be the star of the show.....

Put simply Pete - NO.

Once a situation is reached where a Club can attempt to influence which official is or isn't appointed to one of their fixtures then the game is over.

Also, if we objected to each Referee with whose decisions we may have disagreed then we'd never have a Referee again

Incidentally I am advised that we may not have to fulminate against Mr Joyce for much longer as he is under consideration for promotion to the National List. His marks, I believe, have been very good as have his performances on the FL Line

If he's getting put forward for the national list then as you put it Phil 'the game is over'.

Considering the likes of alex ferguson can castigate and influence or at least try to,which officials go to old trafford then we should have some imput into it.Especially as its a genuine concern. The guy courts controversey in virtually every alty fixture he is involved in with his frankly bizaare decision making

By making such representation you are in effect saying that you doubt his honesty. If you impugn an officials integrity you run the risk of being charged just like Fergie has been recently.

BTW I can recall only one occasion when Sir Alex indicated that he didn't want a particular Referee again - Brian Hill from Kettering. Mr Hill subsequently refereed 4 of Uniteds next 10 fixtures.

Id say it was his ability that was in doubt rather than his honesty.Such a high pressure fixture should have an experienced ref,not some fast tracked kid.Uriah Rennie had a glittering career clouded with no controversey when he was fast tracked didnt he.....

Despite his experiences with us Pete Mr Joyce is considered by many observers to be a very capable official who has improved with experience.

Although, as you say Mr Rennie had a glitering career, it was far from without controversy from beginning to end including, I believe, at least two periods of suspension, a fate yet to befall any of the current panel referees who officiate our fixtures
