Title: Hard to not be impressed
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on December 20, 2014, 08:53:29 PM
With the new bar. I think the club took a Great Leap Forward today. From the real ale on offer, to the choice of food, to be being able to have a pint all through the match thus not causing a stampede at half time, to the number of visable tv screens showing football all day. The sensory lighting really softens the place up, and it was well heated without being over baring.

Two points I would make

Re-open the shutters at halftime to showcase the place to people who wouldnt normally see it from outside

Get a mobile phone signal booster or get one of the free wifi services like the cloud or somthing installed

Other than those two minor points, I thought it was fantastic

I don't believe signal boosters are that expensive, £80?

I didn't think the real ale was on yet?

Couldn't get in the bar today due to having to arrive late and dive off due to Sons birthday shenanigans but was so pleased to hear such positive views from people on it.

I'm very proud we have got this through planning, building and opening and from what I saw on the open day we have a first class facility we can all be proud of.

The key for me was the lighting and it passes muster.

The real ale was in bottles which is a good idea figgypuddings best idea since signing boshell I thought it might seem a bit cold and modern but yes impressed also means players may have to mingle with fans

I would guess around 500 for a multi network booster single Network 100 draw back is that would allow 30 simultaneous users it would fall over beyond that one to service 200 + would cost thousands and be industrial

As far as the cloud not so sure on cost and again capacity has to be considered

Cost for The Cloud is not hugely expensive. It would mean a bit of an outlay by the club but not a massive one.

My only real issue with the new CSH is the fact that we are yet again asking for volunteers to man the bar. I haven't an issue with trying to save on costs but when we weren't getting any (week in-week out) volunteers in the Noel White Suite, why should that automatically change now. Considering the potential income on matchdays I don't see why we couldn't look at employing 1 or 2 additional bar staff for our Saturday games. Have them in from 1-7 on NMW or slightly above and a single outlay would be approximately £42. That's worth it. I'm just slightly worried that we're going to move backwards and look inwards whilst we've got the facilities and potential to spread outwards massively.

Hopefully people will volunteer but if not a couple pf paid bar stuff would be beneficial.

it will be harder to get volunteers now if it's a business we are running

Makes sense to me to ask for volunteers to see if they can get any help in the first instance.

If they can't and more staff are needed then I am sure they will be recruited and paid.

It looks very nice, impressed. Just one thing I'd look at is maybe installing something like those high stooled tables and chairs to give it less of a "function room" feel

giggling at talk of 'the cloud'

We would be better pitching at a large provider to install as a hotspot, unlikely given we arent a chain but feasible.

If Alty could reach the clouds id ask for a 2500 average crowd long before wifi  :)
