FYI on our away attendances, because I did some research for our next podcast, and thought it would add to this thread.

We averaged ~115 away in the league this season. I am not sure where this stands us in the league, but you'd imagine it's close to the bottom.

8/23 of the away games saw us take less than 50.

The average is heavily skewed by the 609 we took to Oldham. If you ignore the 'popular' trio of Oldham, Halifax and Wrexham (giving a better average of our hardcore away turnout) we averaged ~70.

Note: Estimated figures as five fixtures had no recorded away attendance.

That feels about right, many thanks for number crunching. The other 'popular ' away is York which was midweek away last season. On top of the cold many had spent their money on the Trophy game. We'd have taken 200+ to a Saturday away there.

The thing is, we can't afford to wait for Ollie to come good. We can't have another start to the season as slow as the one we've just had, we won't get away with it again.

I reckon the solution might be to loan him out till Christmas to the NLN; we know Chester need a goalkeeper and I'm sure lots of other clubs do too. Get another keeper in on loan, and tell him he's got the number 1 jersey when he gets back - provided, of course, that he does well.

Ben Killip left Hartlepool today. Only seen him once or twice and he's done enough to stick in my mind. He's not going up the leagues in my view.

You could well be right there.
Clearly it's not just Wrecsam trying to buy success in this league!

I've mentioned before about finances in this league, boring to some I'm sure but the numbers are staggering.

Notts County lost £1.7m in 2022 and were about £14m in debt. If it wasn't for their owners underwriting it then the receivers would have been in by now.

As for Chesterfield, they were about £12m in debt at the last count but about £10m of that was to a supporters trust who took it on from the previous owner. That £10m was converted into £5m of shares last summer. So on paper they made £15m in one swoop. They still run at a heavy loss all the same, but a massive chunk of their debt is simply not going to be called in.

Not a breadhead myself, can't grasp all the implications but I do know if you continue to spend more than you earn you either end up in the poo, or need Mrs. Moneybags to rescue you.

That looks a tougher league than last season. No obvious dross.

Wilma, the Tea Lady at Flint, told me that they are also known as 'The Stones'

I see. Yes. Very good.

It should be remembered that Dagenham are a merger of four clubs, the other three being Walthamstow Avenue, Leytonstone, and Ilford. And the latter pair of those had themselves merged.

Indeed we played Leytonstone & Ilford away in a trophy game. As Max Boyce would say, I was there.

We should do our work quietly and professionally. After we have secured who we want from the current squad we can consider our options.

Admittedly unlikely, but Leather and Baines certainly wouldn't be a bad pairing; at least they'd know each others games inside out

How old is Scott now?

Far to reliant on loans. Without a doubt they kept us up, we need to turn quality loans like ccc and newby into permanent deals. The next big announcement has to be financial and designed to make those deals happen.
