Alty fans can now pay on the day on Saturday, if they so wish, Gateshead have just informed us. Story on Alty's official website.
-
Thanks, I am sure there are some who will use that.
Did they say how many away tickets online had been sold?
Thanks
-
Stating the obvious, but we really need to get as many people there as possible as the team are really going to need to hear us. 4 of us going down early morning.
-
Plenty on the train. We'll travel well.
-
We were supposed to be in the East stand opposite the big stand but gateshead website this evening saying we will be housed in the north of the main stand
-
Quick ☕ then off to get my 🚆.
Come on Alty.
-
Big up all the travelling fans. Really great effort. Exciting radio!
-
When will the replay be likely to take place this week or next?
-
A week Tuesday I believe. I think it’s only until the 4th Qualifying Round that the replays are immediately the following midweek. Once you are in the competition proper it’s always been the midweek after. I think a lot of this is down to it being comprised of larger clubs once you are in the 1st round, so more planning and policing considerations etc mean a longer gap is needed.

Solihull V Wigan looks like a good bet.

I must confess I did not like the ground much. Viewing was awful because of the running track. It was like watching ants running around busily at times rather than two football teams. I don't like football pitches where you are miles away from the action. Winsford United I think also springs to mind.

I also recollect the speedway track at The Shay when we lost 3-1 against Halifax Town in the FA Cup First Round back in November 1975.
Supporters of a certain vintage will probably also recall New Brighton's stadium, where the football pitch was surrounded by an athletics track.
Kirkby Town's former ground, Simonswood Lane (where a young John King honed his crunching tackles in the late 1960s/early 1970s), was another example:

You could say much the same about Grantham - but it didn't spoil my enjoyment on our visit there !
-
At least that one was patrolled by some efficient ball boys lead by one with a beard if I recall correctly
-
Ah, memories!
Remember going to Kirkby for a night match. What an absolute war zone it seemed to be!
And New Brighton. Only went there the once but I could have sworn it was a banked track around the ground. Was it speedway? (could be my bad memory!). Might have been the same year we beat them at Edgeley Park in the Senior Cup semi final (yes, it was a big deal in those days 😂).
If it was, it was probably late 60s when we overcame Witton in two legged final.
Names to conjure with for player/managers there too with 'Lofty' Lawrenson and 'strolling' Ken Barnes!

What an incredibly desolate photo that is. Did anyone on here ever go there?

I believe there was a nightclub underneath that stand? Christ 😬
If my geography is correct then just behind it or at least to the left is Liverpool’s brand new £50m training facility.

I showed these photos to my Dad as he lived in Kirkby many, many years ago. Apparently these two photos are of different places, one being the football ground and the other being Kirkby Sports Stadium, which was apparently involved in some kind of political controversy.

How many banked stadiums with weird stands can one town have? :D

Perhaps that is what the controversy was about
