This week's Sale & Altrincham Advertiser clanger.....
« on: September 20, 2012, 04:25:35 PM »

Here's the concluding paragraph from their back page article on Alty:

"Reeves will make his 100th appearance for the Robins when they travel to County Durham on Saturday to face Shildon in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase."

Now, I know that we haven't exactly raked in much money from some FA competitions in recent years but opting to drop down to that level does seem like an extreme reaction from the Moss Lane Board.

The buffoon who has written this piece is one Ben Collins.

Another of his recent contributions comprised his ostensible 'analysis' of some of Alty's squad, most of which resembled a regurgitated version of the player profiles on John Laidlar's website!

It doesn't help does it.

On the other hand it won't detract Alty fans from going so despite some sloppy journalism (imagine that in the UK in 2012!) no lasting harm done.

He won't make the same mistake if we get to round three and draw a plum tie - no no cos he'll be looking to see how he can get to go and report on it.

Even the name's rubbish
Imagine coming home from primary school after your team has played in the final............"well son, did you win the cup........no mam, we won a vase"

By the way, the North East clubs excel at winning the FAV....most likely because they play at an artificially low level compared to most of the other entrants

Don't want to be a chomp here but perhaps the recent success of Whitley Bay is slightly tarnishing your view?

It's not the Ben that has written sub-standard match reports for the Vics?

Maybe your are correct with Whitley Bay, but last years final was Dunston vs West Auckland, both of the NL
