Title: Forest Green
Post by: Saughall Robin on December 02, 2023, 08:31:56 AM
I see their FA Cup game has been postponed due to an FA investigation.
It seems they signed their goalie on an 'emergency loan' from The Gas in September and he's been playing ever since.
If there has been a breach of the rules, the EFL may sanction them too mightn't they?
How karma would it be if they were deducted all points gained from games he played in (as in the James Robinson episode) and were left miles adrift heading for almost certain relegation to the NL?

PS. Hope this doesn't seem too spiteful?

PPS. Knowing them, I'm sure they'll get away with it.

Shame that snake Peake doesn't have anything to do with them anymore to feel their suffering.

Fortunately FGR are rubbish - I make it 8 points they've accumulated with him between the sticks. Although that in itself would leave them a fair bit  adrift.

Will be interesting to see if Blackpool are awarded a bye or if Scarborough are reinstated to play them like Horsham were.

Scabby would be reinstated I suspect.

I think Forest Green are currently poor enough to be relegated without any help from the powers that be. If they come down it would be a further piece of karma were we to pass them on our way up. Horrid little club.

Speaking of hobby clubs, I see Fylde have sold their star defender and captain to Solihull.

Has Haythornthwaite finally got bored and thrown in the towel?

Probably getting ready for a rebuild for next season?

I unfortunately can't link it, but if anyone can get hold of Rod  Liddle's piece in today's Sunday Times ("Punish Forest Green for vegan pies, not ineligible players") it's a really humourous piece from a man who shares our sentiments towards "the little club on the hill".

If they're making pies out of vegans they should be punished. No excuses for that. Shocking.🤔

Classic culture wars divisive bollocks that. I can't stand Rod Liddle.

And ironically they wouldn't be vegan.😁

Hmmm. Fgr get to replay v scabby.

I am confused by what seem to be very different penalties for the same offence.

Ah well,  time for a large rum.

Must say I expected, at least, the same punishment as Barnsley received.
Still, as long as they stay in the bottom two until the end of the season, it's fine by me.

I wonder how Barnsley feel about this, and of course Scabby who may have had half an eye on the next round.

Am I right in saying this is the FAs sanction and therefore there may be Football League sanctions if the rules were also broken in their competition?

I think Sneaky Peakey may have had something to do with this in the background so probably, especially as details of the transgression have not been released, that will be it.
Hope I'm mistaken.

So can I take it, AA, that like me you're not that struck on 'The Little Club on the Hill'? 😂😂

Apparently, the problem was that FGR didn't provide a written agreement from the parent club of a loan player that they had given their permission for him to play for FGR in the FA Cup.
If this is the case then there won't be any case from the EFL.

Never Forget SA. Never Forget.

Strange thing is I quite respect their owner for a few different reasons (The vegan pies is a bit far though)

Well either he was eligible to play and there was some paperwork missing - fine them for being rubbish at admin OR he wasn’t eligible in which case kick them out. How the hell do you end up with a replay as the right answer here?

There was a different (and supposedly less severe) rule breach, for which there was precedent for getting the game replayed (this tie hadn't even begun).

Not sure why it's still such a big deal, just let them get on with it now.

Seeing as I mentioned Flyde on this thread... I see they've let another one go, Gold Omotayo has joined relegation rivals Kidderminster for a fee.

Do they have debts that need paying off or something?

Didn't they get him from King's Lynn? If so, it could be a travelling issue?
You know what I'm like though, I could be mistaken 😉

He's Swiss, and his previous clubs in the UK include Bury, Yeovil, Wrexham, and Gloucester, as well as Kings Lynn. I don't think his geographical status is a problem!

Apart from KL, the most appearances he's had at any other club was fylde with 17.
Perhaps he's got a campervan? 🤔
😊😊

I suspect that Oldham will be sensing blood with Nick Haughton again if there's some sort of off-field issue going on up there.
