It's fascinating to observe just how different the perceptions of the same football match can be.
Take Josh Hancock's second goal last evening, for example, which elicited the following descriptions of his free kick:
(1) the Altrincham FC website match report:
"Hancock took aim from a free-kick a good 25 yards out, slightly to the right of the D, and curled it imperiously over the wall and past the diving Richardson to record the 350th goal of Phil Parkinson's spectacular reign as Alty boss."
(2) the Altrincham FC Twitter updates:
"Hancock bent a delightful free-kick into the top right corner."
(3) the King's Lynn Town FC website match report:
"Altrincham extended their lead on 57 minutes with a bit of luck. Hancock’s free kick from just outside the area saw it take a deflection off the Lynn wall and beat Theo Richardson in goal."
(4) the match report on John Laidlar's website:
"From 22 yards, slightly right of centre, Josh Hancock's freekick deflected off the wall and looped past Richardson to double Alty's lead.
Jackson's two shots against the bar and this slightly fortuitous Alty goal must have confirmed to King's Lynn that their luck was out tonight (58 mins)."
I have to say that John Laidlar's account corresponds most closely to my own view of the incident.
