ALTY chairman Geoff Goodwin has given his full backing to manager Graham Heathcote despite the recent slump in the Robins' form.
Heathcote called for a meeting with Goodwin on Monday to discuss the future of the club after his side's 1-0 defeat at Grays on Saturday saw them lose more ground in the battle for Blue Square Premier survival.
Weymouth's 1-1 draw at Northwich on Tuesday night saw them climb above Alty in the table, thrusting the Moss Lane side back into the relegation zone.
But Goodwin is convinced Heathcote is still the right man for the job.
Speaking exclusively to SAM Sport, he said: "Graham came to me and told me if the club wanted to make a change that we should do it now to try and get us out of trouble.
"We should be awarded 10 points for trying to do things the right way."

"But the board are still right behind him and we are still confident we can avoid relegation.
"We want a manager who loves this club and Graham is completely dedicated. The work he does goes way above and beyond his role as first team manager.
"Graham is an honest man and he's feeling it at the moment because he knows it's not working. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the situation but we have to look at the positives and look at what he brings to the bigger picture."
Goodwin is positive about the future after the club announced a profit at the recent annual general meeting, but believes they are operating on an uneven playing field merely because they have decided to live within their means.
He said: "We are making a profit and doing the best we can on the budget we have available to us, there's no point going out and spending money we don't have.
"There aren't a lot of clubs in the whole of football who live within their means and we keep on seeing more and more get into trouble.
"There's a 10-point penalty for teams who go into administration but I think we should be awarded 10 points for trying to do things the right way."
