Possibly on police advice. Makes good sense, gives ideas on numbers, quickens up entry, helps with security and stops cash being on the premises. I'm sure they'll bring a decent following. I'm also sure for these "once every Preston guild" type fixtures that conference football throws up these days nobody would begrudge giving Tranmere part/half of the pop side should it be required. We can arguably make £30k on the back of a big away following, and for games like this I have no issue with it. It's when it's done against clubs with a couple of hundred fans because it might rain.
-
How will it work with the seated areas? There's only one set of turnstiles to serve them and no physical segregation. I daresay a sizeable number of tranmere fans will want to sit down. Do tranmere fans show a ticket and alty fans pay cash?
-
Only guess work, but I assume they'll be allocated a certain number of seated and numbered tickets. Maybe even family stand tickets. When the seat tickets sell out they'll have to buy a terrace tickets should they want to get in.
-
In which case there will definitely be Tranmere fans in the home end.
-
It's Tranmere, not Tottenham, I'm sure the old bill know what they are doing, they manage matches 1000 times bigger every week here. The police will have a big say in how this fixture is managed, so best let them to their thing.
-
Oh, i haven't got a ticket, so i will just pay to go in the Alty end.
As usual i expect United and City fans to turn up so we will not know who are Alty fans and who are not.
Needs to be all ticket in my opinion.
-
City and united fans are at all games I'm sure it be well policed you can't justify it being all ticket for 900 to 1000 home fans
-
This is a high profile fixture that will have a match day strategy backed by police intelligence and proper policing on the day. There will be more than enough tickets for travelling supporters, and people won't just "go in the home end" as they risk a banning order if they do. The GMP are the best in the country having to deal with huge football matches every week for nine, sometimes ten months of the year, let them do what they think is required. Given that Tranmere is about 25 minutes away, making it all ticket wouldn't negate people coming to moss lane to buy tickets anyway if they were so minded. That said I'd expect about 1,500 from Tranmere tops. The club has its own dedicated police liaison officer now we're are back in the conference, so let them get on with it. I think all ticket for away fans is the best compromise. They could have the chequers end and the popside if needs be, there's plenty of room.

be very interesting let's see if away fans are still allowed to roam round the ground freely as normal ...

They won't be going in the home end when they know full well that there's police there.
It took a while but we've learnt our lessons.

We could always ensure that Tranmere fans are allocated that section of seats in the main stand from which the Community Sports Hall completely blocks your view of the goalposts at the Golf Road End.
-
There is no seated option in the prices shown on the Tranmere website

You really are pretty tiresome arent you, of 1100 seats maybe a dozen have that problem, once in 30 years has the stand been full and look what huge benefit the club has gained by the CSH, Get over it Cult.

There is on their eticketing website which is registration only according to the thread on their forum, they've apparently sold 500 tickets since they went on sale on Tuesday, they are now saying all though it gives a seating option on that site they are indeed only selling standing tickets

Didn't you an hour later say" abusing fellow fans wasn't clever" You are a real knob.

I'm not sure that I'm anywhere near being in the supreme physical condition required to be able to get over the CSH, to be honest!
The original comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek but it appears to have touched a nerve, so if you found it to be tiresome then I duly offer an apology.
However, what I do object to is you continually misinterpreting/portraying my bemusement at the geometry of the building as being some sort of a rabid anti-CSH vendetta.
I have contributed to the CSH fundraising and, if you should care to look closely, you will almost inevitably see me patronising the CSH after home games and even handing money over the bar in order to buy drinks.
In fact, if you recollect, I even had the grace to say hello to you in the CSH after last Tuesday's victory over Grimsby Town.
-
Fair enough cult, I have for ages understood your curmugeonly ways and should have realised that your comment was tongue in cheek,.... truce then :D

Get a room

It'll be full for the Tranmere game though won't it (not that our sh*t record in cup competitions in the past twenty years is an excuse for it). I'd be interested to know if the club have or are planning to label those seats and sell them cheaper as restricted view or just let 1,100 people in and then deal with the fall out during the game.
I also don't see why we have to get arsey about admitting there's been a bit of a cock up building something in a football stadium that impacts on it's core purpose for spectators (watching a football match). An oversight if you will, rather than decrying someone as curmudgeonly, simple acknowledgement is a lot better. After all it's no great architectural wonder. It's a nice enough hall but not one of the country's great modern buildings - nor would I expect it to be so.
-
Ballers, too much is made of this and it wasnt a cock up or an oversight either. It was just a matter of priorities for the club and its future which we all care about.
A few seats in the top left corner do have a restricted view of the corner area. I'd still be surprised if the main stand had 1100 people in it for this game.
-
Good, I'm sure cult will accept your acknowledgement that it wasn't ideal but couldn't be helped and that the club have made arrangements to ensure that when there is a larger than normal crowd there is an awareness of the restricted view.
p.s. It's a dozen seats in that you wouldn't sit there at any point. It's a lot more than that affected when you're talking about charging people £15 to watch the match.

Fair point which, as you will realise, I cant comment upon.

According to a message posted on the Tranmere Rovers forum today, they have already sold circa 985 tickets for next Saturday's fixture.
It also appears as if their supporters are being advised that in the event of them wishing to sit down to watch the game at Alty, they can upgrade by paying the additional £1 in cash at the main stand turnstiles.
-
I would imagine the main stand will be full of Tranmere fans next Saturday. Hopefully stewards and security will prevent anyone with a scouse type accent entering at the Golf Road End.
-
Its not the first big away following in recent years when Wrexham first got relagated they bought 1600 plus fans that had the away and half the popular side and seats where they liked,
I don't remember that being a ticketed game but do remember we had the right resources i;e Police and stewards. That was the same Bank holiday weekend as well.
-
Part of the problem is the fact that the main stand users have to use the same snack/toilet facilities as people in the home end. If this were not the case, you could just bar anyone from entering or leaving the stand via the home end steps. As it is, it will just need careful stewarding and policing. This is not a gripe at the club, by the way, just an observation on the situation.
-
With the above in mind, what is the old bar area now used for? I presume it still has toilets in it? I know it would need volunteers to make it work, but could that area be used as a snack/toilet facility for the stand, thus enabling the stand to be properly segregated from the home standing area?
All theoretical, I know, but I'm just brainstorming a bit.
-
Although I know there will be some people who follow tranmere that will be out to cause trouble (as there are at many ex football league sides at this level) I do feel the tone of this thread is almost expecting that trouble to occur. Talks of segrigating the main stand etc I think the right approach on Saturday is to have a visible police presence to deter trouble makers and to otherwise be as welcoming as possible so that those 900+ tranmere fans don't spend all there cash in the king George rather than the club so that we possibly can make some money out of the fixture in the way we would hope to make money out of a big cup game. There not animals (I know being Scouse is close) and so I feel we should be more positive rather than be creating an atmosphere of expecting trouble in advance. As previously mentioned we had close to 1600 Wrexham fans in one bank holiday and I don't remember any trouble.
-
So if they look at this thread your welcoming them but saying they are close to being animals
-

Yup exactly

I think this is a match where you want logistics to take over really. We don't want them spending money in the ground if it's going to be problematic. The tickets sales already have brought the club in over £10,000. It's probably better if they are all in the KG rather than the ground from 2.30pm.
It'll be a good test for the club seeing how the ground copes with a large crowd (the Play off final is slightly different as you had 2,500 neutrals who were happy to mill around/stand wherever.
I have slight reservations how the ground has been developed in recent years but I'm sure a few tweaks (using the far Golf Road end turnstiles rather than the near ones) will help it go smoothly as we did after all cope with Wrexham ok, a game I unfortunately missed.
-
How many are we expecting ? 2.5k ?

The old bar is now a very nice large vice presidents lounge

2500 neutrals that means only around 1000 home fans, most were locals probably with alty as their second team.

You've over estimated Guiseley's support that day by about 500 smartarse

Here's hoping the away end gates aren't opened at the same time as ours!

Here's hoping the away end gates aren't opened at the same time as ours!
Where's this come from? The gates at each end have been opened with 20 mins left for the last 30 odd years?
Or is it an in joke?
-

What ther scare mongering are you going to come up with next
Trust the club to consult with Tranmere the police local council etc to plan the match they have been doing it years
Normal practice to open all exits at the same time but when i have been involved in matches with large away followings
this has been done on police advice and sometimes the result can determine the outcome as well.

Brief resume of Gary Brabins Monday press conference.
Saturdays result has altered what we do in training this week
Lots of improvements to work on
Got a week to work on the training ground but would have been nice to do on back of a win
Teams will come here with 451 and when I say we are not ready its on the basis of a team going for automatic promotion and we are not that level yet
We rushed the play Saturday and we had desperation in our play
Early days we had a good start and you get carried away with the expectations
Once you get a goal it changes the opposition plans
We need to be patient in general play and passing and moving teams about
Instead we forced play all over the pitch
We have not got a large squad, which is purposely done so we know the areas we need to improve but we have had one or two knocks and with a free week on the training ground we can improve and recover one or two of those knocks
Margetts has knock on his knee and a bit of swelling
Norwood has some damage inside and he came back too early last time as he was too eager to play
Blissett was bombarded with longs balls when he came on but we need to be passing to him and using his pace to get behind teams
Important players have a voice as well especially after games, the passion is there to win so much that they can force the game some times
Got some good characters/voices in the dressing room
10 points out of 15 so we are on course so there is no panic
Expectation that there is a divine right to beat "unheard of teams" but it does not work like that
Blissett in for initially a month, was hard to judge him on the 30 mins he played Saturday
Grimsby have already lost at Altrincham so will be a tough game
Not sure as to whether Hogan will be back Saturday
No new arrivals imminent, we have our fingers on the pulse with a couple of players at the moment
Need to lift ourselves and learn from Saturday
The main area we are not ready is in the final third and injuries are not helping that
There is goals in the players we have here but we need to get them fit
If we are serious title contenders we need to better in the final third than any performance this season even the 4-1 win at Gateshead
At moment we think we are competitive and will be in and around but loads of room for improvement
On whether money is available
We are in a good position at the minute. I have purposely not overloaded the squad, it is important to me that this group of players gel together and as it goes on we will know where we need improvements and where we feel we need to get players in
Jake has been stop start in preseason due to injuries, he has been on the fringe for too long and needs games but played his 1st 90mins last week, potentially he may be loaned out to get games, in terms of fitness he is behind the other forwards
We can always do better we know that
Where we are now in terms of the squad we are delighted but we need to improve on the pitch
It is the end of the season that it counts
Looking forward to all our games and Saturday no different

Man city play 4 5 1 what's his point

Man city play 4 5 1 what's his point
Anyone could play 4 5 1 if the 1 were Aguero.
-
My point Phil is that it's not necessarily negative which brabin was implying
-
I see the "Grimsby have already lost to Altrincham" excuse has been thrown in just for good measure. Get your excuses in early. It totally wouldn't surprise me if this ends up like the Bristol Rovers home game. Score first and 1,000 away fans on your back causes issues

Wrexham match was brought forward to 12pm on police advise and the attendance was 2,619

Wrexham match was brought forward to 12pm on police advise and the attendance was 2,619
As far as I remember the game v Wrexham here was a 3pm kick-off. When they play Chester it's usually midday. On the Tranmere game - the critical points seem to me to be ensuring as far as humanly possible that (a) visitors don't get into the home end & (b) a separate section of seats is provided in the main stand for visitors. I trust the club & police to have these matters in hand. I assume that all home fans will bring a pair of football boots in case the injury situation worsens further before Saturday ...

I sit corrected!
-
Can now pay on the day as well I see I reckon 1800 will come
-
Pay on the day??? I thought this was all ticket for them, cue the chaos, might give it a miss
-
So it was never all ticket for away fans then or have they not sold as many as we thought they would? Either way I think a cash turnstile for away fans is a good idea because it should prevent any non ticket travellers attempting to gain access into the home end.
-
Oh yes i agree, i think the turnstile operatives and stewards wont let a single one slip in unnoticed, i wonder how many will be allowed to just freely roam after getting access through the main stand. I think its unfair to be made to feel like the away fans at your home ground, cue the chaos
-
What chaos? There's been a huge policing operation taken place ahead of the fixture, we should be happy to leave those with knowledge on such matters to deal with it. Why will you be made to feel like an away fan? You'll be stood in your own end of the ground and have access to the bar
-
Pay on the day??? I thought this was all ticket for them, cue the chaos, might give it a miss
Now that the club know the numbers they know there is still a decent number of spaces in the away section, doesn't this make sense to allow them a pay gate?
Means that any who wanted to stand and couldn't get/couldn't be arsed getting a ticket and thought they would just pay in the home end now have no excuse, they can pay in their own end.
