Which players would you like to see come in?
« on: May 07, 2010, 12:18:30 PM »

Now the election banter is out of the way, back to the football.Although the sound bites coming out this week, make it seem as though new signings wont be plentiful unless one of us scoops the 67 million on the euro tonight.Which current players out there would you like to see come in for next season?

Not sure what constitutes a realistic signing given our finances, but hey ho...

Tony Gray at Droylsden looks a very good striker. Pacey might be overpaying him, but if he wants to get to the top of the part-time game he should come to us. I've heard Southport are sniffing around him too.

The ex Wrexham lads have to be worth a look. Baynes looked very useful.

Mansfield released Hotchkiss. Most of their fans though he was a really good creative talent who wasn't given a chance due to Holdsworth hoofball.

I'm sure Kenny is scouring Wales as we speak.

Three who might be worth a look at:

Opik has been released by Monmouthshire, Smith has been released by Redditch and Clarke realeased at Norwich. The latter 2 are very experienced though Opik is a bit of a wild card!

I'd say something along the lines of either Wes Baynes/Silvio Spann or one of Ebbsfleet's strikers, Ashikodi and Viera. But I imagine the Ebbslfeet strikers are too highly paid?

Its highly unlikely we would sign a player that lived down south.

Given the dosh (or lack of) lets look at the Youth team to see who's coming through.  Glodi Kuba-Kuba seems to be getting a few.  How old is the lad?  If he's good enough he's old enough etc.

David beckham - just think of the shirts ian senior would have to produce.

Wayne rooney - natural goalscorer

Michael Carrick - apparently on his way out of man utd, a good ball winner and creative influence.

Be careful with Carrick - he has a bad habit of going AWOL in big games!

Could get Carrick on loan if he doesn't find a new club before the big kick off - he'd be a reasonably adequate substitute for Tom Kearney until he's back in action.

I agree with the first post re Tony Gray, he would be my choice but not sure of his contract at Droylsden.

He is local, scores goals although not proven at this level, but worth the gamble and realistic!!

Never sure of what to put on website to be honest in case it jeopardises any ongoing communication or delicate negotiations but that would be my choice. We can now play the established conference side card now as well!
