Anyone who want's to vote this Labour government back into power for another 5 years needs to see a doctor.

Despite the fact we have had the longest period of controlled growth, lowest interest rates, and biggest increase in personal wealth since the 1950's. The Iraq war was not Labour's fault, neither was the banking crisis, which was actually a global issue. The Uk would not actually have to rely on the banks for wealth had we still a manufacturing sector, something that a certain Iron Lady destroyed back in the 80's. Now the banks call the shots here because its all we have to balance a precarious economy so they screw up and the government has to fawn to them

Gordon Brown said he would get rid of Boom n Bust - well, he got rid of Boom so he's half way there!

In 1997 he said he had got rid of boom and bust politics...

Financially we lose a lot more than most european countries while we are a part of the EU, paying out a huge sum whilst comparatively, gaining very little in return.

Some say that, because most of our business is with EU countries we would lose a lot of this trade - poppycock!
The last time there vwas a vote on a European membership it was for what was then known as the Common Market - a pan-European trade agreement. Why should not being a member of any European concorde stop trade with these countries - indeed, not being a member might incentivise industry to work harder to keep & improve trade.

Yet the Tories want to cut the public sector further?

The Forces should be properly funded and equipped, no question, but we also need to decide in this country if we are part of Europe or part of the USA.

ALL parties would have to cut the public sector -  it is the only option with the level of debt this country is in. The only problem is where you cut waste and excess.
It is the private sector that makes money, the public sector just spends it.

JD mate, that is very simplistic. The Private Sector wouldn't touch some of the stuff the public sector have to do, and why would they.

T Some things in the world need to be done but are not profitable.

The Common Market or EU is just a German attempt to rule Europe.

Stay independent. Invest in Britain. Go back to the days when our industries were something to be proud of. Start making things again. Give British jobs to British workers and pay them a fair wage.

It's part of neither.

You can't get a fair wage for manufacturing anymore because of cheap shipping around the world. Multinationals have access to 3 billion people who will work for a pittance. We need these industries because the fact we're better educated is the only card we can play over the developing world in why we should get the jobs.

So old labour then. Destroyed by Thatcher.

British jobs are there for British workers. Sadly many would rather sit at home on there arses watching horse races and Tricia shows than work. Hence the opportunity for EEC workers like the Poles who work f*ckin hard for not much.

This is because a job has to be worth doing. A minimum wage of £5.80 an hour is not much good when a house costs £250,000 or rent is £150 a week.

People on minimum wage don't buy houses for £250,000, or rent at that level. They are eligible despite working for housing benefit and possibly social housing.

Getting on the ladder to work also means they can improve and get better jobs. It's how the world works.

That is a myth. My mates son lives in Lewisham in a grotty little one bedroom basement flat. The rent is £160 a week. He has been on the council waiting list for three years and gets pushed further down the queue while blacks, Poles, Romanians and so called emergency cases get the best accommodation and priority treatment. He had a job driving a forklift truck in a warehouse but is better off on the dole because as a single white English male he is at the bottom of the list for everything. The idea that a crap job leads to something better is just not true, maybe it was true years ago, but not now. Employers just want the cheapest labour. And the £250,000 i quoted is not for anything special. In some parts of the country an ex council house costs that much.

The private sector makes money?  not recently it hasn't - we've basically been giving them our cash.  Trains, massive payments - far far more than in BRs day, Banks, please don't start with them, all the way to the tiny tax on phone lines to make sure we all have super fast broadband etc.  The private sector needs the public sector and vice-versa.

There are some cuts that can be made that most would probably agree on (ID cards for example) and it's for that reason I'm hoping for a hung parliament where some true reforms can be made as part of the negotations.  Proportional Representation, elected second chamber, dismantling the corrupt honours system, Scottish Independence (if they want it which is questionable), Council tax abolition, corporate criminal law etc, stopping the Child Trust Fund (bloody stupid idea), capping the amount any one person or address can claim in benefits etc.

I just hope the Big Nobs can work it all out...Big Nobs to work please and save us another bloody election.

I just had a phone call, a recording form the Lib Dems reminding me to go out & vote.  Why did they employ a Yank (or Canadian) to make the recording?

A hung parliament would be the worst possible outcome. Nothing would get done and the country would fall apart.

I have just asked the agent for the Lib Dem candidate in North Ayrshire & Arran (Jennifers Mum) - and she has no idea!
