From somebody who actually went to Brightlingsea, we deserved the win, though the margin was rather flattering.
We were all over them at the start of the game, but were only 1-0 up when Regent came back into the game, and did much better during its central portion. They were a bit physical for a friendly; Brad Jackson went off with an injury in the first half, and I feared Ryan Colclough was going to do the same at half time, but he recovered, and scored a spectacular second goal, somewhat against the run of play. We finished off very strongly with three late goals, although, as I say, that was harsh on Brightlingsea.
The two triallists, Fitzpatrick and Pringle didn't do anything wrong, without particularly impressing either. I do like Marcus Dinanga, though. I He seems to be an alert, intelligent player who could be the missing link we need up front, although we need to see him against teams who are not from two divisions lower.
Brightlingsea were good hosts, and seem very flattered even to have played us, while their ground indicates their rapid recent rise through the leagues with several small stands., and it was good to go somewhere we will probably never revisit (watch us go there in the Trophy, now).
