Awful article full of shoddy grammar and poorly formed arguments. For example...
I guess what I’m saying, is that it’s okay to go against the majority, and support a local team or follow an allegiance that’s run in the family. We’re the real fans, the ones who keep football alive, not the Liverpool fans living in Plymouth, who spend £45 on a shirt, occasionally catch a game on Sky, and brag about how successful their team is.
Who is to say that that is not a family allegiance, something that he has just championed?
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy as much as the next man taking the piss out of the City "supporter" I know at uni who is from Nottingham that has never seen city play, never been to the stadium, but watches them on tele and is a "die-hard fan". And I'll be the first, when somebody wearing a United shirt asks in a Bristol accent "What team is that?" and sneers at the answer, to reply "What team is that?" and then sneer at him for living 300 miles away from the club he is a "die hard fan" of and has never been to a game in his life yet every decision that is made in the game is a matter of life or death to him.
I get pissed off with these people, I can't stand them at times, but why is it ok for a lower league fan to support their club because their family do/did, but not for someone who supports a team from the top 4 because their family did and they no longer live there?
I've made that really long winded and i'm knackered so it probably makes little sense. But yeah, double standards within a breath of each other. And still a shoddily written article anyway...
