Title: Support package
Post by: oneedham on September 30, 2020, 01:16:47 PM
Any idea on how the government funding will be distributed between clubs?

I can only guess they will look at a club's previous year's income. This would be a disadvantage to us, as this season we would have had bigger crowds just by increased away supporters. Our income would have been much higher, so the more established National League teams will benefit.

Unless, they are distributing equally, which I very much doubt will happen. This would be very good for us.

I would be interested to know....

Nigel Huddleston (Digital, Culture, Media & Sports Minister) responding to a question from Tracey Crouch MP:

“Funding will be focused on those most in need and it will be based on the loss of gate receipts."

“I can't give details today. We are working on those details as I speak."

If it's based on gate receipts then what they spend on wages will be irrelevant surely in terms of the funding? If anything the overspenders will be hit more because the deficit won't be covered as much.
