Wouldn't logic and best standards suggest that one ref should not do the honours for the same fixture twice in the same season. It just seems a bit iffy to me and surely something that could have been avoided.
I would really appreciate ATSs view on this.
BSP Fixtures are refereed by 'Panel' Officials.
All of these are (at least) National List Assistants with some being Elite List Assistants.
They are appointed to Referee Matches only when not required by the higher level competition.
As they are not 'full time' officials there is still a need, when appointing them, to consider the geographical considerations. e.g Mr Harrington who resides on Teeside should not, in all fairness to both himself and the Home team paying the expenses, be appointed to a game at Crawley or Eastbourne, not even on a Saturday let alone a midweek.
So you may find yourself looking at a limited number of options.
There is, per se, nothing wrong with any Official doing both 'legs' of a fixture anyhow. Would we be quite so vociferous in our observations had circumstances been different with regard to the first fixture?
Oh and by the way I seem to recall that, irrespective of the opposition, both dismissals were entirely correct and, in the main were accepted as such, even on here.
