I can't be the only one who thinks Connors' impact last season was a slight bit exaggerated?

Piergianni did much, much more for me.

Ryan Shotton gets my vote, unbelievably good.

Connors impact when he actually played was impressive, however his fitness problems that led to him missing the last 6 games or so took the wind out of our sails when we needed it most.

And if I can go for longer than Jack but only one season...Paul Showler

Tony Kelly was a class act for his first few games - then the pies got the better of him...

Yes great shout that one.   His close control was unreal.

Never forget him doing keepie uppies at Slough or somewhere for about 20 minutes before a match in flip flops.

and cousin of Joey Barton...tbf Tony was a class player for us

Wasn't that Tony Rigby? He'd be another good addition to this list actually. I remember his free kick at Frickley that virtually guaranteed promotion in 1999 - superfantastisch!

Don Weston.

Scored four goals on his debut in an 8-1 trouncing of Northwich Victoria on 25th January 1969.

If that isn't an impressive and heart-warming impact, I don't know what is.....

In answer to the original question, Alex Stepney has to be one of the greatest examples.

Alas, he did very little thereafter. The definitive answer has to be Frank Carrodus.
