Rangers in the Conference National?
« on: January 16, 2013, 06:49:43 PM »

Conference members are to discuss the possibility of Rangers starting life in the Conference national, rather than play in Scotland.

Though the question of promotion / relegation would have to be looked at, and whether the Conference would increase the number of teams, or have a north v south playoff final for 1 season, whilst keeping the four relegation spots.

No. The only time they should cross the border is to play at Berwick.

Forget it Scottish football couldn't afford to lose them,  I know they are in strife at the moment but with their fan base and influence they are still the only club in Scotland that will be able to challenge Celtic long term. Scottish football is dying a slow death anyway and a prolonged one club dominance will make the process quicker. Scotland haven't qualified for a Euro finals since 1996 and a World Cup in 1998 and the prospect of that changing isn't goimg to happen

Berwick Rangers play in the Scottish league  :P one rule for one eh. Bring Rangers in, imagine the profile lift for non-league football.

Maybe if they were willing to share their home gate receipts, as in a cup-tie, and also
restrict their away fans to a manageable number, it would work out quite profitably....
.....until all the other Scottish clubs did the same, and we found ourselves in BSB South!  ;)

How are they suppose to get out of the financial mess that they got themselves in in th first place?
An entrance to the Conference would be a means of eventually getting into the Premier League and competing with 19 other teams - and the current mess is a result of hate and jealousy of just one other club.
This whole idea should be knocked on the head - especially as we are the most likely club to be victims in many ways.
We also would not gain financially (unless it was televised) on the home game as the Police bill would be sky high. I dont think we made on the gate against Millwall.

The  ;) at the end was supposed to convey the ironic nature of the post.

Surely the way they would do it would be to take the place of the team finishing 23rd in league 2 meaning they got a repreive and stayed in the league, rather than take the place of a team coming up, that way everyone would be happy surely?

I think Rangers should play in the The League of Ireland.  All Celts together...what could possibly go wrong?
