It's nice that the players spend some time in the town they play for.
Makes them more passionate about playing for them.

Must be terrible playing for a team you don't know anything about the area.

to be honest i started supporting alty because of the genuine quality personalities around the club, it also showed on Saturday the reception the players give the young fans at the end before they go in is unique  ;D

I have to agree. Being a Celtic fan it was impossible to see them players up close.
I love Altrincham because you can have a chat with the players, and Saturday in the bar
One of the players came in. Altrincham has to be THE MOST FRIENDLIEST CLUB.

I once sat behind Mark Maddox at a Bob Dylan concert in Manchester.

The late, great Ivan Crossley used to be a regular fixture on Market Street in Manchester, where he would be recruiting on behalf of the RAC.

I'M a cabbie.....Danny is a private hire driver (world of difference, don't start me).

Picked Josh Mitten up in the cab once, chatted to Buzz and Chris Denham in the Good Catch when both were out injured, and to Lewis Chalmers just after he'd signed for Aldershot and was coming in to watch us. Andrew Smart, and three Trafford team mates were in the cab at the start of the season too.

Also once let Val Owen (in a BMW) have our parking space when we were departing from The Trafford Centre.

Alas, I've never met the great Tunna but, then again, they say that you should never meet your heroes....

Met Paul Rowlands once going for a pub meal in Chester, when I was with Carys from Chester's family.

Also met and sat with Nicky Daws on the train back from Manchester to Brooklands, he was on his way to play in a game one Tuesday night, finished our chat by saying I would see him on the pitch later!!

Saw Graham Heathcote in the B and Q car park on Atlantic Street, the day afer Kingy walked out when Graham was his assistant, looked like he had the world on his shoulders. Saw Colin Little outside the Alldays/COOP on Maple Road, and also once at Sandilands watching a junior game that Alex was refereeing.

Bumped into Denham during a night in town last summer. And saw Stu taking his child to Paul Scholes testimonial, as I came out of Stretford Leisure Centre in old Alty shirt.

My parents went on one of those coach holidays and met Brian Pritchard, who scored a hatrick on his debut in the 50's (I think, have the newspaper cutting he sent me somewhere).

I remember having a chat with Danny Murphy in Morrisons, Cheadle Heath a few years back before he went to the states, nice lad. I used to see the late, great Mickey Brookes a lot when he worked in B&Q in Cheadle Hulme and he always had time to have a chat, regularly sending customers to all corners of the shop in search of stuff so he could keep talking!

One of the best shops in Alty,  H

He opened the shop after opening the world's eyes to an alien invasion in "The Invaders!"

I've seen Bryan Robson pi**ed in The Park (Pat Crerand's old pub) and Norman Whiteside pi**ed in The Griffin in Bowdon, outside of which I also saw David Gower snogging a bird, who I don't think was his wife.  I've also seen Joe Jordan in a chippy in Alsager and Paul McGrath and Ron Atkinson in Hale and Wilmslow Safeways respectively. Would swap any of these to bump into an Alty legend!

Norman Whiteside I met at a Unicorn Athletic Sportsmans dinner. He was the after dinner speaker. We had a couple of drinks together and a slightly inebriated chat for half an hour.

Nice fellow, and as pointed out to him, he scored the only goal I have ever seen live in an FA Cup final.

I actually asked him the question, what does it actually feel like to score a goal at Wembley and for that matter at Old Trafford. To be honest, I said; 'If it was me my head would probrably explode from the adrenalin burst.' He said, 'That's pretty much it, but it's hard to explain without actually experiencing it yourself as you would not understand,' understandably! Jeez it would be good enough for me putting one into the Golf Road end goals!!

Guess I'll never ever know, but I thought it was a good question!!
