Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Southend Match Thread

I've hardly ever been critical of PP but he really does need to learn that not starting with your best team is going to cost you at National level - we're not Evostik now.

Everyone knows the best starting 11 at 5 o'clock. People on here have been banging on about "Pringle must start" etc etc etc. Well today he did. We were just crap in the first half.

Sorry, I don't agree with this.

Clear patterns are emerging. Peers and Pringle are pretty much always best as impact subs. I like Pringle when he comes on but I have never seen him start well (which is a mystery tbh).

Mooney is (and has been all season) our most dangerous forward and as such should always start when fit. That's pretty obvious too.

The lad from Stoke. I'm not sure what he has contributed in his time with us, other than to be withdrawn at 2 down.

I said it at kick off to my lad, not at 5 o'clock. PP needs to learn or teams like Stockport and Wrexham will be out of sight by half time.

Credit to Southend though. They had a game plan and took advantage of our mistakes. I'd take their number 9 (Murphy?) in an instant. Dalby was very good too.

Yep, fair enough. I pretty much agree with your views on those Alty players. Just found the afternoon very frustrating overall, less so after an ale or two now.

Awful first half, similar to the Gateshead debacle (but at least Gateshead were quite decent, Southend weren't), we were gash again.

Second half was much better, Mooneys goal in particular was superb. We just couldn't make their keeper work enough despite dominating possession. Having a pen saved just about summed it up.

The match experience for home fans, plus the team playing toilet in first half and Southend players flopping to the floor every chance they get made that a very frustrating afternoon. REALLY hope we get the ground sorted for the next game.

Just the result that was needed after a tough few days.
A couple of the goals sounded like screamers from Ryan Colclough, plus on another day we might have had 7 (seven) or more.
Well done to Parky and the lads to get back to winning ways.

Better team won. They closed us down and pressed us throughout and we played poorly.
One of our worst displays for a while and even worse than when we had 14 players out. Far too many stray passes, even our first goal was a gift from their keeper.

We need to use the JD to get the best advantage over Charlton.

How long would it take to make the improvements?

Keep playing like this and we won't be playing Charlton

Good statement by the club, the lad is now banned from the ground and asked the police to bring charges.
I'd be surprised if the police do anything mind, if he'd done or said something un-PC they'd be all over it though.

A decent win, lots of good performances but I thought Dens was superb at RB. Brad Jackson had a good cameo further up the right when he came on too.

Well done Parky and the lads!

It is a shame his career has lost its way. I hope he can bounce back.

I think he chose to leave to be closer to home, work and family.

Meanwhile Chester lost 0-4 in the cup at home against Maersk (a shipping company?! ;)) who had ten men for last 15 mins. Ouch

Yeah, fair play to Grimsby, they looked a very good side who closed us down very well when they had 11 on the pitch, didn't let us settle.
Will have to wait for the highlights but looked like the same midfielder lost the ball for both their second and third goals, so he and others who haven't had much game time might have been slightly off the pace against decent opposition.

An entertaining game, we gave it a good go against the ten men, possibly ran out of time. Good away following for a wet Tuesday night and good to see a lot of young fans in the home end who hopefully enjoyed the game.

First half Kings Lynn probably unlucky to go in 1-0 down, saying that Tony T was superb.
As the game wore on we dominated a lot more - could have scored 6 or 7. Think they played last15-20 minutes with ten men after making all their subs?
Jake had another good game, Ben Pringle probably deserved man of match.

Still, an excellent result, another entertaining game and back to back wins. Well done all!  8)

Great to win in front of a decent sized crowd.
A lot of decent performances today. Bunney filled in well at LB, all the back four looked solid. Colclough and Mooney impressive again.
Thought their keeper was busier than ours.
Well done to Parky, Sorvs and the lads  8)

Superb, lovely first touch and then wallop!
Sounded like a great effort from the lads on RR and deserved 3 points.
Congrats to Parky, Sorvs and the lads.  8)

The main thing is (as others have said) great news for Ryan personally, so delighted for him. It must have been a big strain with the court case hanging over his head for months and trial by media.
