Altrincham FC First Team / Reality check!!
« on: January 03, 2008, 11:07:22 PM »
Whilst Saturday's opponents and 90% of Conference National footballers were sat at home with their feet up, Alty's squad were training for 2 hours in the freezing cold on the Astro pitch near the ground . And this is the case week in, week out, with the intention of maintaining their place in this very competitive league. I spent 10 minutes or so talking to Stuart (Coburn) about how the league has changed in the last 5 years or so, from completely part time, other than Rushden when Mr. Martens took control, to now, with the likes of Oxford, Torquay, Exeter, York, Halifax, etc. , all clubs who have been nothing else but full - time as far as I can remember. Next time anyone question's the commitment of the lads, take the time to see them train, you'll soon change your mind, they desperately want to stay in Conference National, and what's more, feel confident in doing so.

Just goes to show how lucky Altyare to have Stu Coburn, surely the best "Part-time" GK in The Blue Square. How he has'nt been a Full Time Professional beggar's belief.

Altrincham FC First Team / 3 points will do it.
« on: April 15, 2007, 10:18:02 AM »
Not quite last chance saloon, but. The unthinkable next week would'nt be the end as Aldershot's away record is amongst the worst in the league, and they'll have nothing to play for on the 28th. :-\. Can't see Southport getting 6 points from York (h) and Exetter (a), Halifax have 3 away games left and are dreadful away (lost 16 of21), and even if Tamworth were to win next saturday, cant see them winning at Cambridge on the 28th. So there's your bottom 4, St. Albans, Southport, Tamworth and Halifax. Hope it's that easy!!

Just looked at NLP and:

Tuesday: ALTY V CAMBRIDGE, DAGENHAM v STAFFORD, SOUTHPORT v OXFORD,TAMWORTH v ALDERSHOT, EXETER v GRAYS.   -  chances there of gaining 3 points on 'em all.

Saturday: WEYMOUTH v ALTY,ST.ALBANS v SOUTHPORT , STAFFORD v TAMWORTH. - that elusive away win will take Alty well clear.

Well, here's hoping that's the case.
