I find it amazing that, having won BSN (don't forget they finished above Fl££twood), Southport are to reinvent themselves as "the Histon of the North".

I've always respected Liam Watson as a manager, and perhaps this is his way of cutting his suit according to his cloth. I'm not looking forward to playing them (especially at their place if it's windy) since it's seldom an entertaining fixture at the best of times !

I think they'll survive.......just.

I think they will finish top of the bottom 4 and hope for an AGM cup win.

With Liam Watson already announcing he will play one up front every game and the fans in revolt because a team of trialists didnt beat Eastwood, I think it will be a long hard season for them.

I suspect they may have a few of away games we used (!) to have where you turn up, huff and puff for 20 minutes. miss a good chance and then lose 5-0.

Relegation and Clapham out chants for them I fear.

I think they'll have enough to finish above Tamworth and Histon. It's just a matter of whether they can scrape above another two teams/another goes bust. I'm sure they'll have hopes of outperforming Bath. Forest Green may have a good first XI but their subs all seem to be school kids.

I'll say they'll just about stay up. The couple of times I saw Tony Gray for Droylsden he was easily the best player on the pitch - quick, aggressive and an eye for a goal. I think if he can get into double figures Southport should be fine.

Now there's a thought - after a pretty dull AGM cup this year, how much fun is it going to be next season?  With all these clubs spending money like it is going out of fashion, how many are going to do a Gretna or a Grays?
