Title: AFC WIMBLEDON : 2010-11
Post by: taxi Phil on July 08, 2010, 09:15:41 PM
A bit of a cheat putting them under "W", but I want to come to the most important club last.

I admire this club for what they've achieved. This is a fans' club formed for the right reasons, and their progress has been phenomenal. Younger readers who remember Wimbledon in the top flight (and beating Liverpool at Wembley  ;D) may not realise that they were a non-league club in pre-Conference days (Southern League) and only joined the League in the late 70's on the back of a Cup run which saw them demolish Burnley, and take Leeds to a hard fought replay.

They started really well last season, and looked good at Moss Lane early in the season - but they fell away badly later on. The news on squad building for the new season hasn't inspired, and I fear they may be in line for "second season syndrome". I hope I'm wrong, but I see them in the lower half this time round.

I agree, can see them struggling a wee bit, but will remain safe.

They could very well challenge. Rebuilding as a full time set up, and very professionally run. A few new signings from league clubs. With Terry Brown too, I wouldn't rule them out.

Pre-season training well advanced, players even take heart monitors home with them!

Upper midtable I'd say. They're having such a huge overhaul of the squad it may take them time to adjust.

Not like here then, where it's the fans who sometimes need them (especially coming up to the AGM's - last couple of seasons apart!)  :D ;D ;) :)
