According to the main site: "Dates for the FA Trophy have been announced by the FA. Alty enter at the First Round Proper."

Are we straight in with the big boys without any qualification?

If you mean the FA TROPHY then maybe.

If you mean the FA CUP as you've titled the thread then no, as only League Clubs come in at that stage

The rules used to be the two trophy finalists and the two best non league clubs from the previous years FA Cup would get a bye to the 1st round.  So the only year we weren't supreme in the cup (2-1 defeat at Canal Street in 4QR) we won the trophy as the first of 10 years without troubling the qual;ifying tournament.

Don't think either criterion is applied any more though.

I seem to remember the year after spurs away in the 90's we went straight into the 1st round and played crewe at home.

Yes we did. This is the last occasion on which we received an exemption from the qualifying rounds.

No clubs receive byes anymore.
