A different perspective: we went 1-0 down at Hednestord after 87 mins.  We were 1-0 down against Bravkey after 83 mins.  We took 4 points from those games.  We played poorly against Colwyn Bay, Workington and Telford and took 7 points from these games.

The team is developing a steel backbone which was certainly not there a couple of seasons ago.  That has to be down in part to the manager and in part to greater cohesion and unity in the squad.  And at exactly the right time too.

This makes them worthy of our support.

Poor against Colwyn Bay? I strongly disagree. Telford yes, Workington, possibly.

To an extent you do have to size up the opposition and play the 11 that you think will get a result. Having said that though, we have 2 of the best strikers in this league, and starting them upfront should strike fear into every defender. Tolson said before the Workington game that he thought Reeves had his best game of the season against Colwyn Bay, that's what made it even more bizarre that he was on the bench yesterday.

Not going to complain too much as we got the win, and we could win every game playing poor and I couldn't give a toss. A big week and if we somehow get 6 points over the next 6 days, we'd be in a very strong position for the play-offs, at least.

This is Alty......we're perfectly capable of winning this league. We're equally capable of imploding and missing out altogether. Because we're fourth today doesn't mean that two defeats in the next five days won't see us back in seventh again.

Is it necessarily the case that against big defenders you have to play a big striker?

This seems little more than received wisdom to me. If successful football management was as easy as just applying received wisdom any of us could do it.

Agreed, we had more success on Saturday when we passed it round them rather than competing physically - that was either when Kyle was on in first 15 minutes or so or at the end.

maybe it's time to start trusting the manager with team selection?

If it was that easy we would all be doing it - give him a break
