Potentially a good candidate, but he was only in charge for this season's promotion. He was a player the year before & the manager was Neil Young.
Its nailed on >>>> Steve Evans....
How about Mark McGregor.....
Paul Cox would be an excellent shout. He achieved a great deal at Eastwood. Depends if he and his cohorts would fancy relocation.
I believe Carlo Ancelotti may be available...................... ;)
Roy keane and paul ince both out of jobs as far as I know
Actually, the more I think about it, Gary Lowe would be a decent shout. Curzon were a pretty useful looking outfit and played some tidy football in their games against us.
Watched a programme on MUTV last night about Nicky Butt.
Doing all his coaching badges and keen to get into management.
Still lives locally I believe ?

I'd like to see a fresh face with no previous alty connections and it is important we give the new manager support and time....at least ten games before we slate him....(removes tongue from cheek)
I think we need a season of rebuilding a good young side around 3 of our better BSP quality players...and then have a side that will stay together and compete for a few years in the BSP rather than the season in season out loan sqauds....
Well I imagine at present we have
1) Stuart Coburn
9) Micheal Twiss
If players dont want to take collective responsibility for their own actions over the course of a season, and try and put the situation right, then I'd rather they werent here. What did they expect when they produced the worst season in living memory, with the iceing on the cake being that eastbourne farce,a pay rise? Im 100% behind those that want to stay and put things right, the rest can do what they want....

Spot on. The fact they are also likely to get paid every week doesn't even seem to enter their heads. Its great being promised £600 a week but how many times have we heard of players not being paid.
Any player that takes a drop and stays with us should be congratulated. The grass is not always greener...
I would expect a fairly healthy amount of applicants for the job. However, this will be severely trimmed down when the realities of our budget are made clear.Totally agree with most of the above; not sure there will be that many viable applicants in the first place, though, and a fair few may well take fright when the financial position is made clear. As we haven't 'done' transfers for a long time, to expect a 'kitty' now would be stupid.
I just feel that a "name" is going to want a transfer kitty which we can't afford. It will therefore be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks.
I am not convinced that a "NAME" will be the answer,, Names tend to be well known for their playing abilities rather than managerial skills...
From what I have been reading on here this morning, the bloke from Eastwood seems to have a decent track record in the lower echelons of the game
If GH is re-appointed as Alty manager a lot of people (who are regulars now and form our hardcore support) will not be watching Alty next season....

Good point, maybe Kenny leaving isnt the big announcement and the big annoucement will be the replacement. I wonder how long the club has known? Perhaps they already have the replacement signed and sealed.
I'd like a fresh face, Lowe at Curzon did a decent job, McGregor is a good shout..WOW totally untrue, GH wont be back but without him we wouldnt of been there in the first place, the players must laugh at some of our fans comments, they know GH was a good man and a good manager, let it go
What about Graham Barrow (If Wigan get relegated Martinez and staff might be sacked?) or Peter Band?
If Heathcote applied, his application should be shredded. If the board are naive enough to re-appoint the person who got us into this mess (I'll wait for the but he got us promoted blurb etc) in the first place, then they should be taken out and shot!

This is old news Jacko...please don't sound so surprised. Its been done to death by Vessey for the last 2 months

who was in agreement? was this before or after GH left?i dont read vesseys topics,i new it was over but not well over, i just hope it doesnt effect our re-budgetting too much
It will significantly affect it. Still, we all knew as much and I think we were all in agreement it was a calculated gamble that was worth being taken.
please not sammy mcilroy!why not sammy mcilroy?
there are a few weeks, but not many to get this right. We appointed Ken after a chronic start and the club leadership in flux. We don't have a change of chairman to contend with this time. Ken was the right appointment. We can make another good appointment.
Oh good, another thread becoming a GH discussion. Put a sock in it Jacko and look to the future.WTF you on about GH was mentioned well before i did? all i asked was did we agree to this spending KM has told us about after he left
After. You know, pushing the boat out a bit in order to sign the likes of Greg Young and Dale Johnson? What we stood to gain was greater than what we stood to lose, so we took a gamble. It's a gmable we could afford to lose in that in order to re-balance the books, we simply have to trim the wage budget this season rather than anything drastic like stop paying our taxes.Thank you sir, this is what i was looking for, i sense people get a bit edgy if i ask questions but this is a forum so i dont care, but what im probing at is maybe its going to effect the management position in such a way we need to go even further down the pyramid for a suitable manager.
It didn't work, but it was worth a punt. Just got to get on with it now.

Lee sinnott would be my choice, out of work, knows the conference north, got a team promoted from the conference north, discovered damien reeves, who may stay if reunited with his old gaffer, fairly young, used to working on a moderate budget.Heres hoping the job is advertised outside greater manchester so he knows its available[/b]
but KM made it sound like we broke the bank for him in his statemant, The "jacko report" is on bbc2 at 6pm sunday BTW ;)After. What you're "probing"? You're not Roger Cook.
Everyone knew about it. We always run at maximum budget...
We got in Bateson when we had no defenders, we got in Connors when we needed a lift and we brought the talismanic Greg Young back to save us.
It was a calculated gamble that not many people had a problem with at the time.
Well I'm going to say it. GH cocked up this season big time, but he has done Conference North before with a budget of approximately nothing. When he left I felt (and still do) that it was for the good of the club, but in case anybody hasn't noticed, our situation has changed. I'd go with GH and if there's any money for an assistant, ask Col, Bandy or Mad dog.
Graham Barrow, Wigan reserves?

Whats Phil Wilson up to these days?
The club will be flooded with applications, its one of the biggest jobs outside the football league, the money available to put a team together will be the stumbling block
There is only one viable candidate : graham heathcote. He took us up in 2005 and knows what is required for success in bsb.
i used to prefer his mild beerWhats Phil Wilson up to these days?
He runs "Wilsons", a chain of solariums across tameside.

He took us up in 2005 and knows what is required for success in bsb.think we should look at the hard working values he bought to the club and find a similar cv, no doubt he's ideal for the bsn whatever anyone says, if we can get someone who works tirelessly and hardly spends a second away and gains massive respect from players this way we have are man, can we find the new 'greatest man in history'? I hope so as most mentioned will just come and go I fear

Altrincham football club did function for 100 years prior to graham heathcote being named manager you know, maybe united should just pack it in when ferguson retires aswell.Graham did very well, and there is do doubting he went that extra mile, but he felt he had done as much as he could, and left. Can we please stop revisiting this, its like comparing everyone woman you meet to your childhood sweetheart for goodness sake. Its a hunt for new manager, not an episode of "this is your life"maybe I'm misunderstood, I want someone comparable with Gh's cv not the man himself! It's just a guide, to be fair both u and ecky do make me chuckle so I don't mind the banter

Just a point, I was watching the football league show last night and some Macc youngsters were wearing an away kit of red and black stripes!
Could someone please confirm that it is not one of Macc's change strips? :o
I think due to the longevity of GH and his connection with the Club, his name will crop up time and time again when the managerial post needs filling (Dagleish and Liverpool for example).
I agree people should move on from the GH era ... By the blokes own admission he had taken the club as far as he could and chose to move on.. I think we as fans should do the same... on the whole the bloke did more good than harm to Alty and he should be remembered for that and we should all look forward to whoever Grahame Rowley and the board choose to be the next manager of the club and whoever it is we should get behind him whole heartedly and support him as I am sure we will....
Cmon you Red and White, (and hopefully occassionally Red and Black Striped) b------ds

I have heard from a reliable source (Jack Jolly) Wes Baynes is to be appointed player manager...
Who will he bring in? What will he do with the club finances? What kind of interesting snacks and drinks will we have? Will Moss Lane be renamed theElectric Blue Boots Arena? Exciting times atHave you tried Yellow Pages under "Therapists" ?Altrincham FCFree Kick Specialist XIcometh the hour cometh the man, it's Wes Baynes time!cometh the hour cometh the man, it's Wes Baynes time!cometh the hour cometh the man, it's Wes Baynes time!cometh the hour cometh the man, it's Wes Baynes time!
Gary Lowe?? Let's be honest folks, he's managed Glossop (I think) and Curzon Ashton. This is Altrincham Football Club we're talking about.
And GR has just said that the budget will be in the top 10 in the BSN.
Which is good news, as some of the names being banded about on here made me think we'd cut the budget by 95%.
Let's get a grip people, without being big headed or disrespectful we're still quite a big name at this level and we should be looking at coming straight back up, not settling down for an easy life. It was our collective (including GH in fairness) refusal to accept we would ever be a Unibond/Conf North club that dragged us out of the gutter and back into where we have so pruodly sat for most of these last 30 years/
Bolton based mike duxbury is looking to get into management, highly regarded coachKnows sod all about BSN though.
