Title: Trafford v Altrincham
Post by: UkrainianPhil on July 19, 2012, 02:41:34 PM
Hello,

Planning to come across for this match at Shawe View.

I've been there before but not from Piccadilly, can anyone tell me how to get to Trafford FC from the centre of Manchester? Is on the Metrolink thing as I've got one of those beer guides for "ale assistance".

Also, anyone know how much it is to get in? I predict a fiver but concrete info would be lovely.

Finally, is it an Altrincham XI or a proper first team?

Much obliged.

You can get the train from Piccadilly to Chassen Road, which is the nearest station to the ground. It takes about 20-30 minutes depending what time you travel.

Not sure how much to get into the ground though.

Get the Liverpool "stopper" train and get off at urmston (for a pint at the steam house real ale pub built into urmston station) or chassen road and it's a couple of minutes walk from chassen road, I'll have my Rotas tomorrow so if I'm off I'll draw up an itinary

It's another gem, at a dreadfully under used station

Also not sure that all trains stop at Chassen Road, but most do at Urmston. Walkable in under 15 minutes and easy to find from Urmston. Last time I was in the Steam House they had a wheat beer on draught. It was utterly magnificent. The bar at the ground hasn't got real ale, but is still pretty decent.
