Any confirmation of this yet ?

3 games according to FA suspensions list, need someone in on loan if he's out for 3 and Crowther has a cracked rib. Can't split the CB pairing again
-
OK I'll start the loan suggestions for Lee ;) - although I accept these players might be out-of-reach budget-wise...
Laurence Wilson at Morecambe has been out injured since 23rd Aug - by all accounts he's one of their favourite players; at that point they were P4 W4 - and their form has dipped since.
At the moment they've drafted in Joe Widdowson (who can't get a game at Bury) as cover - he's with them up until late October.
So there's 2 options - enquire with Bury about Widdowson once his loan finishes, or (even better) ask Morecambe if they want to give us Wilson (the higher-rated of the 2) for match fitness - I assume a slightly less fit Wilson would be adequate for us given his calibre.
-
Why do you want to take injured players on loan
Ludicrous
-
Also please bear in mind that one of the games os an FA Cup tie (maybe 2 if we need a replay). I would be surprised if any loan player we got was allowed by his parent club to get cup tied
-
We cannot afford to drop any points this season if we want to stay up. We are already in the relegation zone.
A bit of cash for a few games may just save us at the end of the season as I can see it going down to the wire.
We use everything available to us, but I very much doubt we will see anyone come in, it is just not the Alty way, we prefer to fly by the seat of our pants at time.

The lad's got to play again at some point! He was scheduled to be out for 6-8 weeks - it's hardly an ACL snap is it. Cav came to us without a pre-season and started well.
What's to say he's not had a run out in their reserves but Morecambe would prefer him to get some competitive game time before putting him back in?
It was an open forum suggestion about a good LB that could feasibly be available, and nothing more than that :-*

a good point.

Williams is on loan to Celtic - depending on the where the lad is in recovery process players may he may be seeking match time. Simple to me. If he's still conked out then there's no point.
-
We can't recall williams I don't think
-
Don't think Leather at left back and bringing Marshall back in is the answer .

Agreed - although we all know that's what Lee's going to do.
I think we need to address this NOW, because splitting up Havern and Leather in winnable games could be disastrous come the end of the season.
-
James Smith spotted at the ground last Saturday.
Could he still do a job for us?
Failing that play Cav at left back. Least disruption to rest of back four and should have the experience to make a fist of it there.
I agree what we must not do is disrupt the current CB pairing again.
-
Cav to right back and Dens to left back would even be better than breaking up the Havern/Leather partnership.

You think Cav can play anywhere because he is old?

No - because that would be two players out of position (Cav and Dens) instead of just one

Yes I know, but the centre back pairing is more important, hence my emphasis on it even being better than breaking up that duo.
-
That's true but you still don't have to move densmore
-
Fair enough, you don't, it was only based on Cav being a recognised right back but I accept that Dens should remain at right back if possible. My main point, however, and it remains so, is that everything should be done to ensure Leather and Havern play in the centre of our defence.

left back is the problem

And the solution should be to bring a left back in on loan.

And the centre back pairing shouldn't be sacrificed to remidy it. I was merely pointing out that I would rather move other people than split them up. I know that Densmore should play at right back and wouldn't want him elsewhere in an ideal situation.
-
You just have to move one of the midfield to left back I think lee always thought Marshall was good enough and leather would be able to play across the middle sadly it's not the case

Effectively bringing a left back in on loan for two games (one if the Cup-tie goes to a replay) makes little financial sense - a loanee is most unlikely to be allowed by his parent club to get cup-tied, and the minimum term for a loan is I think a month - so what do you do with him once Griffin's available for selection again?
-
Correct mike no team will loan a player at cup time we will just have to manage and if we don't in 2 very winnable games and another we should win with ease then we are in trouble
-
Ideal time to play Havern, Marshall, Leather as 3 cbs and Densmore and Clee as wbs.
This won't happen though. It will be Leather at lb and Havern and Marshall at cb
-
We have been so much better without the Havern/Marshall partnership, going back to that would just be a bizarre idea.
Keep Leather and Havern at CB and build around that, simple
-
Suerly the simple asnswer is Clee at left back and Crowther on the left wing (assuming he's fit) or bring in Wilkinson and put Laurie on the left. Simple!
-
Crowther won't be fit with a cracked rib
-
Clee moves to left back. Wilkinson gets chance to prove himself on left wing. Bring one of the youth teamers in on the bench to give us an option.
-
I go with nasha's suggestion

I agree 3 at the back the way to go with dens and clee as wingers, we've done it before
-
Much as I rate clee you have to be much fitter to be a wing back than a winger or a fullback and clee is more about skill than pace

but this means Marshall plays - and he a liability
-
Marshall will play no matter what formation we play.

Perry probably will too, depressingly.
-
Shame Perry doesn't share Paul Ellender's ability to play centre forward/midfield/half.
-
Can't see why Perry will start

Me neither, but I never can.
-
3 at the back for me but make it Cavanagh, Luca and Scott then a midfield 5 of Dens, Richman, Moult, Williams and Clee and a front 2 of Reeves and Lawrie. Strong bench as well in Parton, Marshall, Wilkinson, Perry and Gillespie.

is that really a strong bench?

IIt's the only bench!!!!!
-
3 at the back only works if you wing backs have a lot of energy I'm not sure this is the case 4 5 1 for me

you want Nicky Clee at left back?
-
A Wing back and a left back are different I'd play clee at left back for these 3 games granted its not ideal
