Title: "Red And White Day" Part Two: Exeter City 11th August
Post by: Ideas 4 Alty on July 26, 2007, 02:27:13 PM
Following the huge success of the "Red and White Day" against Aldershot last season I think it is imperative that we get the same atmosphere going at Moss Lane right from the off this season too with balloons, flags, replica shirts and anything that will basically decorate the place red and white to really get the season off with a bang. We can also get this advertised in the Messenger as Gary did previously. It was a great idea of his and I think we should do it again.

Your thoughts please.....

It doesn't really make much difference as they won't be wearing red and white at Moss Lane and even if their fans join in it will add to the atmosphere of the occasion. The players need to run out in front of a decent crowd and have a good atmosphere in the place for the first game of the new campaign.

I've emailed the Messenger about this and I'm hoping they will advertise the day quite prominently. It was a great idea last time and it really worked a treat. It is of paramount importance that we include as many youngsters in this as possible. I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to travel up for this fixture - this being the case, is anybody willing to bring along balloons to hand out to people at the game? I am more than willing to contribute to the cost of buying them.

Question for Gary/Hughesy/anyone who bought balloons for the Aldershot game:

Where is the best place to buy a lot of balloons cheaply?

If anyone has other ideas about how to "decorate" the place for this occasion please feel free to add your thoughts. Personally, I feel this is a really spceial occasion (given our reprieve) and we should try to make everybody feel a part of it.

Further to my previous post, I have found a guy on Ebay who is selling packs of 50 balloons for £5.95. If I buy 50 white and 50 red that's 100 for £12 which sounds pretty good to me. Can anybody beat that?

Certainly need to make sure all our flags are out.

Indeed do we have any new ones? Can STAR afford a new flag for the Golf Road End?

Flags look nice  ;D

I have a couple of brand new george cross flags (about 5' x 3' in size). They currently have no writing on them but if anyone wants to write/print "Altrincham FC" on them I will be happy to bring them with me next time I come home. Any takers?

Puff, we need puff. It's all very well paying for them but who's going to blow the f**kers up. If George gets any more exaserpated than he was with the youth team this morning he won't be able to. I'm too fat  :'( which also rules out fellow Alty fans such as....

Why not give them out not blown up, then whoever wants them can blow them up themselves.

That's the idea. They have previously been handed out to people as they come and they can then blow them up before the game.

Ballers - I definitely fit into the "fat man" category too!  ;)

I bought the balloons mate and will buy some more for the opening game. I got them from Alty (one of the card shops I think) but will have look on the old interweb

Flags are to be washed this weekend also ... and even better be hung on a washing line that overlooks the Train line at Northwich.

Happy Days  :)
