Because less than 50% of the League 1/2/championship games are at 3pm

At FGR so the prattling BBC can waffle on about green issues!

The rest of us don’t count then. I thought the 3pm ban was there to protect grass roots not the pockets of the bigger clubs

It doesn’t apply during a WC when there are no PL or Championship games. When the top flight starts back again on Boxing Day it will be back in place as normal.
I really can’t imagine though any City or United fan at a loose end was put off coming to Moss Lane today by the alternative prospect of some hot tv action between Forest Green Rovers & Alverchurch Town.

Clearly that’s the case but it shouldn’t be. It is not there to protect premier league clubs who don’t play at 3 pm anyway! Farcical decision by the powers that be.

A game finishing at 3.10 and another starting at 4pm probably does more damage

The 3pm-5pm blackout (UEFA clause 48) is optional. Domestic football associations can opt in or out of the clause. The FA choices to opt in but can specify the day and time of the blackout (Saturdays 3pm-5pm) BUT can also choose which dates the blackouts apply and which it doesn't. Clearly the FA has specified dates where there are no Premier League fixtures to NOT apply the clause. Whether that is right or wrong is another matter.

Wrong. Simples.
