There's some confusion on thefootballforum. Does the following mean that there will be a further shortfall in the budget for each club or is this reiterating something we already knew?

http://www.chad.co.uk/stags/BSP-budget-shocket-for-Stags.5518484.jp

"As it is called the Blue Square Premier we all thought they were the sponsors and the collapse of Setanta Sports would not affect central funding," said Stags chairman Andy Perry.

"But we found out today that Setanta put a large chunk of money into the pot and that has now gone on top of the TV money.

"We didn't budget for the TV money but we did budget for this and everyone in the room was gob-smacked."

Have Mansfield got their wires crossed or should we all be sh*tting ourselves?

Hmm, seems odd especially as it hasn't been mentioned elsewhere. Worst case scenario would be same for everyone.

As an aside, why do relegated clubs get a parachute payment, why is it deserved? Its like the last remnant of "The Old Pals Act" which meant re-elected hopefuls generally got back in unless they were in Barrow or Workington.

I suppose the logic is that an immediate and sudden drop in revenue could leave some clubs in dire financial straits if unexpected. Theoretically this gives them some time to trim their expenditure. Of course, we all know that as often as not clubs just use that bit of extra cash in a sh*t or bust assault on the title.

I suspect that it was a proviso for getting the two promotion spaces.
Teams relegated from the premier league get a large parachute payment for two years in a similar way.

Im suprised that some fans on the conference forum, are sayin the clubs werent aware about the central funding being cut,but it was reported in the national press and also in the altrincham messenger that this would be the case if setanta collapsed, just before they went under, how the hell have so many clubs overlooked this?
