Seeing as the weather is rubbish....
« on: June 30, 2007, 09:38:19 AM »

What's the coldest you've ever been at an Alty match?

I give you General Chemical away in the 1992-93 season, a game we won 3-0 and I think Alan McDonanld scored.

Cold beyond belief, I didn't see most of the matcha s I was huddled at the back of the only semi-warm terrace. The fact I couldn't see what was going on was ourely co-incidental!  :'(

I think the coldest I've ever been at Moss Lane was about five years ago at a game v Droylesden just before Christmas. 2-2, iirc.

I was so cold that I just started laughing randomly.

Tow Law was bad in the Trophy in 1982/3  I think it was........but I think Ballers is probably on the money here with General Chemicals......incedibly cold!!!

I think Alan Mcdonald may have got a couple that night.

Was it about 2 or 3 seasons ago at Haig Avenue where we were hammered with torential, horrizontal rain for the full 90 mins? We lost 2-1. I remember vividly being wetter and colder than if I had fallen in the sea fully clothed. I drove home in my underpants.

As I'd left my coat and fleece at home, New Year's day at Halifax stands out as being fekkig freezing esp. when the rain/sleet started to drip thro' the roof.

I would also add the league cup game at Workington a few years back. Absolutely freezing and lasted 120 minutes!

Have to agree about Tow Law and Blyth.....couldn't believe the Blyth game was on, went to stay at a mate's in Newcastle for the weekend, snow started on Friday night, by Saturday morning there was a good 4-5". Got the bus out to Blyth.....it wouldn't have run here in London......no snow on the coast at all. So so cold though despite tee shirt, jumper and two fleeces.

Have to add another, I left a sunny, balmy London one morning to go to Wakefield-Emley, naively in a tee shirt and denim jacket. By the time the train got to Wakefield it must've been a good 10 degrees colder, then it rained. I was freezing and miserable however probably alone on that one as no one else was quite as daft!
